It is not something I would suggest. I haven't tried it myself, but it does not appear to be durable.

They were used to make summer sausage and were cold smoked for five hours before being hot smoked to temperature over several hours, allowing for good smoke uptake and a nice color. In terms of appearance, I prefer a mahogany-colored case, but this came close. I'd buy it again without a doubt.
The casings were great, but the pliers were a little small and hard to work with.
This was the ideal accompaniment to my summer sausage!.

That is precisely what I was looking for. The product was of excellent quality and functioned without a hitch.
It was a success. Pliers were a little on the cheap side, but the package deal was about the same price as other casings without hog rings or pliers.
