The Chinese elm has a striking dark gray to reddish brown bark that becomes fissured and corky as it matures. It has a lovely branching shape with delicate, oval-shaped toothed leaves that are fresh green in color and have a delightfully small leaf.

Your medium 8-year-old bonsai will arrive between 8" and 10" tall in an 8" container, and will thrive outside (see detailed care instructions in images).

Questions & Answers

Is there any existing wire on the tree? This seems like a silly question for a tree that is eight years old. ?

On one of these, the roots would be the only wire that would arrive. All of the other curving wires have been removed.

Is it necessary to remove the wire from the tree's base?

If you're talking about the wires that keep it in the pot, no, you shouldn't remove them. They're there to keep the tree in place in the pot and prevent it from being moved.

Is the root wire something I should get rid of?

The wires aren't there to hold the tree in place; they're there to keep it from falling over. Wire all bonsai into their containers.

Is the pebbles, tray, bonsai food, ceramic pot, book, and tree included in the package?

That's correct. It's a fantastic Bonsai tree!

This purchase has made me extremely happy. br>It arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect condition. br>It was about half the price I'd seen them for locally. br>I was hesitant to send a tree via UPS, but it arrived in perfect condition. br>br>I will definitely purchase from Brussel's in the future. br>5 out of 5 stars! In two weeks, I'll check back

One of the main roots had snapped off, and two other main roots appeared to be dying when I received the elm. One thin root appears to be fine, and the branches appear to be alive, but all of the leaves are brittle. I wish it had been planted with more care to avoid root snapping. I'll let you know if it's still alive in two weeks.
