Questions & Answers
There are eight packs of six mochi in each box.
I stored them at room temperature in a zip bag. One bag takes me three days to finish, and they keep well in zip bags.
On the box, it says. The boxes I ordered have a year's worth of expiration dates on them.

food that has been packaged Isn't homemade mochi amazing? No way! It's all pre-packaged and arrived on a UPS truck. That being said, it's adequate for the task at hand, and I have no complaints. I received exactly what I ordered, and I've been snacking on it.
Very nice. Years ago, I lived in Japan and developed a strong fondness for tea sweets while studying tea ceremony for several years. I liked the more western-style music at first. treats with a unique design But, as time went on, things like Hershey's Kisses lost their appeal, and I discovered that I preferred the mellower flavor of yokan and other small-batch sake. azuki, azuki, azuki, azuki, azu treats made from beans accompanied by a delicious cup of deep green tea I still enjoy a bite of yokan after all these years. But more often than not, I anticipate the pleasure of a single small red bean mochi treat. with a small pot of SA Fukamushi sencha, brewed to perfection. These desserts are delicious and fresh. Each one feels like a mini-trip back to Kamakura.
This mochi didn't quite live up to our expectations for softness. In San Francisco, we're fortunate to have a fantastic Japantown Mall with everything you could want from Japan. Although the mochi is pricey, it tastes exactly like the mochi we had in Japan. However, for those who do not have access to such a location, this mochi is very affordable and will suffice in a pinch.
It was purchased from an Asian market in individually wrapped packages. I couldn't stop myself from wanting more after that. I scoured my neighborhood Asian markets for something to satisfy my hunger, eventually settling on a dry red bean cake-like snack. Both a frozen steamed red bean filled dumping that claimed to be mochi and a similar thing that claimed to be mochi failed to satisfy the craving. So I didn't have high hopes when I came across this. While the texture isn't quite right, the flavor is spot on for satisfying a craving. My only complaint is that I wish they were larger and the "dough" wasn't as thick so that the filling could be more evenly distributed.
I enjoyed my first order of red bean mochi so much that I placed a second order before finishing the first. The first order of mochi was dated "Best before May 5, 2022," and the second order was dated "Best before February 3, 2022!" The products in the new order were older than the ones in the previous one. The mochi were drier and stiffer than expected, with no evidence of cornstarch powder, but the red bean filling was satisfactory. I'm disappointed, and I won't order again until Amazon guarantees mochi freshness.
I left Japan over a year ago and am now living in Europe, where I miss things like mochi. This one was a gamble for me. I had my doubts about how well it would travel, but it's good enough in my opinion. br>br>It's not the same as buying something locally. This package was sent via military mail from Taiwan to the United States and then to me in Europe, and unlike the last time I ordered mochi, it survived the journey. I'd done it before with a different brand/vendor, and the product didn't hold up to shipping, with one batch being too hard and another being 'turned. ' br>br>This time, the mochi was soft and ready to eat when it arrived. However, I'm sure there are some additional chemicals/food additives involved, and I detect a distinct flavor difference. It's not quite as good as buying it fresh and locally, but it'll do for now. br>br>Though it isn't 'perfect,' it is recommended.
