Questions & Answers

Which is it? The listing says lior vanilla halva loaf, but the photo shows achva. ?

This is the second time I've ordered it from Amazon. Lior was the one who packaged it the first time. This is the second time, Achva. They were both the same enormous halva loaves. The second one I recently ordered was ridiculously fresh. It was extremely oily, which is a good thing! Ground sesame seeds are used to make this concoction. What are your thoughts on the origins of sesame seed oil?

Is it possible to freeze portions of the large halva loaf for later consumption?

Without a doubt. The loaf can be portioned out and frozen or refrigerated for later use.

I've placed four orders for the Vanilla Sesame Loaf. Every time, I am grateful for the chocolate I have received. Has anyone gotten plain Vanilla yet, and if so, when did they get it?

Hello, Myrna, I placed an order with you. About 6 weeks ago, I got a plain Vanilla loaf. It was (and continues to be) excellent. However, I'd like to have the set. They should have listed them separately, in my opinion.

For the past four months, there have been no reviews on the Lior vanilla halva loaf. Do you want to know if these are brand new or if they've been sitting in your fridge for months?

It appeared to be in good condition when I bought it. It was not rancid in my opinion. I hope you found this information useful.

The texture is waxy and doughy
3/5

I ordered a 3kg loaf based on the rave reviews and the expectation that it would be the crispiest loaf I'd ever had. ish addictive halvah I'm used to from small bars from other manufacturers, etc. This page says Lior (which I ordered), but I got Achva. I'm not sure if they're the same thing. I won't say it was bad or inedible because it wasn't. However, it has a cheap, waxy flavor to it. The texture is similar to that of Play-Doh. Doh. My mouth was coated in a waxy, fatty film. In the first bite, it had that crispy texture, but once you chew it, it's all Play-Doh. Doh. I've eaten a lot of halvah over the years, but I've never had it with such a soft, waxy texture. It's still a good deal and tastes like sesame, but I'd prefer it to be a little tougher, crispier, and sweeter. I believe it contains a significant amount of added saturated vegetable fat. It claims to be more than half sesame (as do most good brands), but don't be fooled; the other half is palm fat or something similar, and not a particularly crisp sugar. Given the overwhelming number of 5* reviews, I just thought the pickier people should know. I'm not sure if it was the recipe, the product, or something else. Just be aware that it will taste like sesame-flavored fat globules. dough.

I'm very pleased with my purchase; the flavor and texture are both excellent! (Read the latest Edit Update
5/5

) I was hesitant to buy this at first because I had a bad experience with another bulk type Halva I bought on Amazon that was old and rancid. br>br>However, I was extremely pleased with this first-time purchase of an Israel-made product. The Halva was sealed in a bag, as shown in the photo, and it was not oily or broken when I opened it. The loaf looked great, tasted great, and had a nice texture. It wasn't too sweet, either. It's on par with any Halva I've had since the 1950s, in my opinion. When I ordered it, I was worried about how old it was, but it appeared to be freshly made, had no oily residue, and had been kept in a cool environment. I looked everywhere in the package for a date code but couldn't find one. The only phone number listed was in Israel, and there was a round sticker with a code on it that was most likely the date code, but I couldn't decipher it. It would be nice if these companies used a simple date code or expiration date on these perishable products. br>br>Eating six of these will take a long time. 6 lbs of Halva is a lot of Halva, but I'll eat it all and will definitely order more once it's gone. EDIT: br>br> I bought it again in November 2019 (received on November 18th). Without my permission or knowledge, AMAZON replaced the brand I ordered, LIOR, with a brand called ACHVA. ACHVA has no resemblance to the halva flavor that I enjoy and is a far inferior product; I'm furious at AMAZON for doing this because brand names and flavor do matter when it comes to food. BEWARE OF THE BUYER!.

Natural sugar, palm oil, and vanilla extract would elevate this product to a 7-star rating, and using these ingredients would not be prohibitively expensive
3/5

I'd give this product seven stars if it weren't for a few issues I had with it. I'd rather pay a higher price for a product made with natural ingredients that are good for me. br>br>The price is great, but some of the ingredients are artificial and unhealthy, especially the hydrogenated (acid-treated) vegetable shortening. br>br>The product lists sesame as the first ingredient, but this is a "slight of label" trick, as the second and third ingredients are different types of sugar (synthetic glucose syrup and natural sugar), resulting in the first ingredient being sugar, sesames, acid treated oil, and the rest natural ingredients, except the artificial vanilla flavor. br>br>I like that this product is less sugary than most other brands; it wouldn't cost much more to use natural sugar, coconut oil, and vanilla extract, and I'd be willing to pay a little more for a value added product. br>br>I like that this product is less sugary than most other brands; it wouldn't cost much more to use these ingredients, and I'd be willing to pay a little extra for a value added product. br>.

Received in a mushy mess of an envelope! This is our third purchase of this item, and we are very pleased with it
3/5

It always arrives in a box, and I had it delivered to my parents this time. The package was mailed in an envelope, and it is summertime. Without a box and cold packs to protect it from the heat, halvah will burn. It was a big mushy mess when it arrived. Better packaging, especially in the summer, is a must! Thankfully, my mother was home to receive the package, as a few hours in the heat would have added RANCID MESS to the list.

I'm thinking of making another "Halva" slice! Today, I've already consumed two slices! This Lior Vanilla Halva, on the other hand, is delicious enough to tempt me to have another (thin) slice; if you like halva, this is a great deal
4/5

I've experimented with numerous halva varieties. and they each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages (with the "advantages" outnumbering the "disadvantages"). So, here's what I have to say about Lior's brand: br> This halva comes in a "colossal" single-serving container. a piece of bar (My purchase in June 2013 was the lowest I've ever seen for halva,) the package is labeled as "3000 grams," which is approximately a little more than six and a half pounds. about $2. (Per pound, $40). br> It has a fresh flavor and a lighter-than-air texture. It has a different texture than most other halvas I've tried (which I like). br> Although Lior halva appears to contain less sugar than many other halvas (which I like), it is still sweet enough for my tastes. br>- One aspect of it that I dislike is; The package lists "Natural Identical Vanilla" as one of the ingredients. Perhaps you're wondering if this is (or isn't) vanilla. Although it isn't real vanilla (it is a synthetic vanilla flavor), it has a vanilla flavor. (I just wish businesses would be more upfront about ingredient lists and not leave customers guessing. ) br>Would I suggest this product to a friend? If you like halva, this massive brick from Lior is for you.

The best deal on halvah
5/5

This is excellent halvah, and the price is a bargain for what you get. I used to get the marble loaf from Amazon, but it was out of stock, so I tried the vanilla and was very pleased. Although the 6 pound quantity may appear excessive, it slices easily and freezes well. I'm hoping Lior will release a chocolate-flavored version on Amazon, and please bring back the marble.
