No, there is no licorice in the Dad's Root Beer Barrels. They're fantastic; I've bought several bags and am very happy with them. If you give them a try, I'm confident you'll enjoy them as much as I did.

Fast Food Restaurants decided to try Dad's Root Beer Barrels, which are sold by Fast Food Restaurants. On Amazon, you can find Swift. The first 4 pound bag was incredible! Fresh, with a hint of a good root beer extract's sharp sting. So I added it to my subscription service right away, and I just got my second 4 pound bag in the mail. I'm not sure what happened, but I got a bag of stale brown sugar cubes in the mail that tasted like YUCK! I came up with the phrase Fast. Quick on the subject of the massive product disparity The response I received from their Representative Heather was essentially a denial. sucker, you're out of luck!.
I've bought these before from this company, but this batch has disappointed me. I adore root beer barrels, and they're one of the few candies I can eat because, aside from food coloring, they're made with mostly natural ingredients. I can easily tuck some of them into my pocket thanks to the individual wrappers. br>br>The majority of my purchases were pretty good, though they all had some quality control issues, with a few odd candies that weren't quite the same taste. Either they were too bitter (too much flavor, not enough sugar? ), or they were too sweet (too much flavor, not enough sugar? ) or something unusually sweet and flavorless. Previous batches had a different one every now and then, and even the sweeter ones were still edible. A full third or more of my current batch has a cherry flavor to it. Cherry is one of my least favorite fruits. There's no way to tell them apart because they all look the same, and I'm sure I have at least a pound and a half of the fruit ones if the whole bag is consistent. It was a huge let down.
I had previously purchased and thoroughly enjoyed Dad's root beer barrels. I wanted to get a bigger bag because I seem to go through them quickly, so I went with the 4 pound bag. I'd never ordered from this particular vendor before, but I figured that because they're mass-produced candies, they'd be fairly consistent. br>br>After receiving my package, I opened the bag and decided to pop a candy. Although the first couple of seconds were mostly the flavor I expected, a strange flavor crept up on top of the normal root beer flavor that tasted like. Maybe the smell of an old warehouse or something similar; I tried another, and the result was the same. I sniffed the candies' bag, and the same scent pervaded the entire bag. The flavor was too strong to ignore, and the candies were quite unpleasant as a result. br>br>This is a very disappointing turn because it's a big bag of candies that don't taste very good. I truly hope this is a one-time occurrence rather than the norm.
I bought these for the nursing staff at the hospital where I worked. It was a huge hit with both the young and the old. "I haven't had Dad's root beer candy since I was a kid," said a large number of the older nurses. This reminds me of so many happy times! " I had people from different departments come over to get the candy. When I moved to another department, several people asked where they could get these to keep their candy dish stocked.
Only a few of the 4 pound bag's contents taste normal; the rest are strange, tasting like root beer at first but cough syrup two seconds later. We always buy the Dads brand because we love root beer barrels; we're not sure if this was the end of a batch or what, but something doesn't seem right. It is, however, a good deal for the amount you get for the money.
I work at a school and have these available at my desk for both adults and children. They've gained a lot of traction. . . . For adults, there is a strong sense of nostalgia, and for children, it is a pleasant surprise. I also incorporate these into my trick-playing routine. It's always amusing to hear the kids as they walk away from the candy: "What's this. . . 'root beer barrel'. . . cool. " "I'm sure a lot of their parents snatched them up from the pile; great root beer flavor, good bulk size. ".
The only complaint I have is that some of the barrels are oddly shaped or have cracks on the outside; this has no bearing on the taste, but I prefer to eat a whole round candy. It's just my personal preference; there's nothing wrong with these candies, and they're a good deal.
I subscribe to these, save them, and have them delivered to my house with my other Amazon purchases. They have a great flavor and are always fresh (as opposed to becoming sticky or soft as they age). When I want my kids to stay out, I refer to them as "dads. ".
