I've never been a big fan of black liquorice candy, but my mother always had Callard and Bowser's black liquorice toffee, which I thought was disgusting. However, as a child in need of sugar, I decided to try a piece, and it was delicious! I was completely fixated on it. However, I had not seen them in years until I decided to look for them recently and discovered that they were no longer in business. (After that, I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. ) br>br>This tasted almost exactly like what I remembered as a kid, and I devoured it! My kids thought it was disgusting, but who knows, when they're in desperate need of sugar, the cycle might continue with them. lol.
while you're at it, pick up a few more UPDATE: 9/1/21 I originally gave this product five stars, but the price has increased by more than $2 since this update. 20 a bag. Even at the original price, I thought they were a little pricey, and I won't buy them again until they are more reasonably priced. However, the candy is still tasty. br>br>Because of the positive reviews, I decided to take a chance on these and I'm glad I did. I adore black licorice, despite the fact that most black licorice candy contains no actual licorice. These are made up of licorice and aniseed. Before trying them, I thought they were a little pricey, but they were well worth the money. They have a creamy, black licorice flavor. To avoid pulling a filling out, I let them soften a little in my mouth before chewing. I just placed an order for a second bag. I was tempted to order more, but I restrained myself.
These take a little while to soften up enough to chew, which I like, but they taste very similar to the old Black Jack square black, pink, and white candies from the 1960s. This is fantastic. I adored them so much that I had to give away the last half of them because I was going through them so quickly. I'm sorry for what I did now: ((I wrote this for the small bag size, but I meant to write it for the massive jar I bought after I finished the bag. )).
I was born and raised in the United States. I had these candies when I was a kid because I lived overseas for a short time. When I returned to the United States, I was unable to locate them and eventually gave up; however, I have always remembered them as one of the best licorice candies I have ever tasted. I couldn't get them out of my head a few months ago, and I figured I wouldn't be able to find them now that the internet was available. Well, I did, and they're fantastic! Please don't stop making them!.
These are my absolute favorites. When I was a kid, my mother used to order something similar from Cadwillider and Bowser in the United Kingdom. These are at least as good as, if not better than, the originals! Don't think twice about buying them. Over the last five years, I've done it numerous times!.
If you've never had Callard, this is a good flavor to try. Toffee with licorice from Bowsers. If you have, this won't satisfy your craving; the flavor is fine but not as good as the original. It is more difficult than C. B, but on the advice of others, I held it in my hand for a few minutes (or stuffed it into your bra IJS). It softens up a little, but it's still not quite right. Miss C is a student at the University of California B enough for me to try my hand at making my own.
The flavor is excellent and delectable, but it is insufficient for the price. The candy's thickness or size was excessively large for their hardness and chewiness. We didn't mind sucking on them until they were soft enough to eat because the flavor was so good. However, for such a small bag, it is far too expensive.
I'm giving these five stars because they're all very good, but they're not a perfect substitute for Callard and Bowser's licorice toffee.
