Product Description

A bag of Cafe Du Monde Beignet Mix (28 oz)

Questions & Answers

What is the yield of one box of beignets?

A mix of Beignets from Cafe Du Monde. This 28oz. bottle is made from 100% cotton. The doughnuts are baked in a box that makes up to four dozen.

Could you please tell me the type of oil you recommend?

The avocado oil I used was amazing! It will work with just about any cooking oil.

It costs $12 for the box. The bottle says it has 2 and 28 oz. yet it contains 2. In addition to that, the one that is $8 also does. They both weigh 28 oz, so how can they be the same size?

We offer two packs of this item, each containing two 28oz boxes, as well as a single 28oz box in a single package.

Can you tell me if the mix already contains yeast?

There are no more changes needed in the mix. I, however, received a weevil in my package. This is the last time I will buy from you.

Having just opened my second box of this mix this, I'm feeling a little groggy
3/5

It was the second box of this mix that I opened this morning, and there were bugs inside! It was horrible to think of them all dead, but it was gross!.

This mix is perfect for when you want to have a taste of New Orleans at home
5/5

As a New Orleans native who lives in the country, I miss It is my wife and I's habit to have Beignets between my wife and I Interestingly, our results can vary from time to time. A few months ago, we took part in a visit to New Orleans, where we watched the pros making the tasty fritters and learned a few things along the way. 1) The dough needs to be very, very moist. It nearly oozes out of the roller machine as soon as it is dropped into it. 2) You are told to use a lot of flowers. While we weren't using enough flour, drying time can take a toll on the dough, especially when it is wet. 2) The instructions state that the pieces should be 1/8 inch thick, but I think they should be closer to 3/16's or a quarter inch thick. According to the directions, you are supposed to use two cups of mix to make two dozen beignets, but I think you should make more like one dozen from two cups. To be sure you have the mix thick and wet enough the beignets should take just about 4 minutes to cook (we usually make half that quantity)*4) 370 seems to be a good oil temperature, as the instructions request. The problem is that if they cook faster than that, they are either too thin or too dry. (The cook at Cafe du Monde was timed at 315 p. m. dip the flower covered dough into the oil occasionally as they're dunk all of the beignets together. After the whole group has gone in, a perforated screen is used to keep them submerged during the rest of the cooking process. When we watched this, an epiphany occurred to us. If we take the basket out of our deep fryer and toss the beignets directly into the oil we could get a very similar result at home. It's easy to scoop out the beignets since they float, so you can easily use a slotted spoon to scoop them out. With this method, we are able to keep the oil pushed under the nuts. Last night, I tried this and it worked perfectly. Beignets I made yesterday were the best. A few touched the heat element and got a burn mark, but they were still the best I've The sugar in New Orleans tastes different than the stuff we have been buying from our super market. My wife can't tell the difference, but I swear the stuff used in New Orleans tastes better than the stuff we've been getting. I find that store bought confectioners sugar is sweeter and has no aftertaste at all. The confectioners sugar in our area leaves a bitter aftertaste. Theirs clumps a bit too but the store bought stuff has an ingredient that keeps it coming together. There are many high-quality sugars on the market, so I plan on buying one of them. Here are some tips I hope can be helpful to I wish you the best of Also, I would recommend that you visit Cafe du Monde if you ever have the chance. Whether it be for motivation or to give your palate an ideal worth striving.

Oh, hmm, I think it's good
3/5

It is a must-try if you have never tried it in Jackson Square. It will be difficult to assess these without knowing what the baseline should be. This CDM is much smaller than the original. Compared to the originals, these are a mere shadow of what they were. The ones at Disneyland are five times worse than those at these places. The homemade version is superior. The cardboard boxes are easy to use. If you need a fix, I always have several boxes in the freezer on hand to satisfy emergency Beignet demands. The three hours I spend making them from scratch are only if I am able. Let me let you in on a little secret. Here's how the secret is revealed. Milk that is at room temperature You'll see when you find the recipe. It is too hot in the room.

THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE! Expiration date of the product has passed
3/5

It is unacceptable to do this. Upon looking at the return policy, it states "we want all of our customers to be completely satisfied" however, when an item is returned as being defective, the message states "unable to return this product".

Your house will smell like a Cafe Dumonde after you've eaten these beignets
5/5

If you don't live close to Cafe' Dumonde, make sure you have a fryer, some peanut oil, powdered sugar and an egg blend available. Down by the market, you will be served EXACTLY the same thing in the French Quarter. It is recommended to roll the mix a little bit thicker than the box says so that the waffles puff up a bit more as they are fried. You can be assured that they do the same thing if you have ever seen them in action. Feel free to thank me or blame me later if you are not able to regulate yourself!.

This is the most astounding, there may be nothing better approach to breakfast
5/5

So, is this the most astounding, nothing could I don't believe it, of course. Make breakfast quickly with this simple mix. It does not require 16 hours in the refrigerator the night before. Does it yield tasty That's certainly the case. There is no great deal of complexity in You should read the directions and check the web for some information. The electric fry pan is the perfect tool to whip up a batch. We did it the following way Since we had peanut oil lying around, that has been our oil of choice. Because the flour gets into the oil, it was our top choice. One pass through the oil is all you will get. They will be fried in just a little amount of oil if they are cooked in a large fryer. Although I've seen filtering setups, they don't function very well when it comes to getting flour out (at least not the ones I've seen so far). On the next batch, we probably will run it a bit hotter. The pan was preheated to 370 degrees Fahrenheit, and we kept it above 350 the entire time. I made a few fluffy ones but they were all rather They were a bit lighter in oil that was hotter. My expectations from the information on the web were about right when it came to mixing up the dough. Unlike most doughs, this one is wet and sticky. As we didn't use a rolling pin, we just did it by hand. At a thickness of 1/8 of an inch, about the right amount of 2" squares were produced. If I were to put it another way, you can get almost 48 out of a box. The size of these is not as large as a Dunkin' The fine grain sugar you need is indeed The confectioners' sugar we used was powdered. The powdered sugar worked just fine and just about any kind will do the trick. You can't stick granulated sugar to the surface of a cereal bowl. Try one, let it cool, then give it a taste. You can cook one and check whether it is ready to eat. A fluffy pillow is a good pillow but if You may want to try heating the oil. Those conditions don't affect the water content of the dough, so you may not have enough water. It's like a sudden realization you have The box needs to be kept refrigerated if there is anything left over. As much as anything else, I suspect that's to get rid of any bugs that might have gotten inside after the box was opened. In terms of eating this every day, it isn't something I'd consider doing. These are just too good to resist. A hundred pounds had been added to my weight in a month. Since the box will be stored for a lengthy period of time, it would be wise to refrigerate it. Not so big a deal if you plan to go through the entire box within two days. It has been two years since the expiration date of both boxes we received (in November). It is unlikely that they will stay that long. Oh, and I almost forgot, it was tasty I'm Bob).

The arrival of the expired goods was premature
3/5

The product I ordered on June 24 was delivered to me on July 30. According to the expiration date on the boxes, they will expire on June 1 of this year. In oil heated to 370 degrees, I tried frying beignets with the paste, but they didn't rise at all. After they were cooked, they went flat, dry, and tasteless. They were thrown away. It's still been a week since I opened my box and I'd like a refund. The Hon. Nancy.
