VERY disappointed to taste such a strong licorice flavor when there was no indication in the product description that licorice was present. Licorice is a taste either you love or hate, so if you like it, then you're good to go. Then YUCK if you have a problem with it. You should be aware of that.
The truth is, most people won't really be interested in this if they enjoy tea. I don't like the taste of licorice because it is too sweet and strong. It overpowers the white tea with its spices and sweetness. There is barely a hint of it in your mouth. The gingery background and hints of citrus were exactly what I was expecting when I ordered the white tea. Rather than taste ginger, licorice, and faux sugar (like Stevia), I taste ginger. In order to drink this, I'll blend some with a black tea like Assam, which is robust enough to handle the spicy flavor without overpowering it.
I am an avid tea drinker, and I love the Tea Forte line. There was something wrong with the tea in this tin. I could taste mold as soon as I took my first sip. From the Tea Forte website and from Amazon, I've ordered tea and it's always been fresh and tasty. My suspicion is that I have a bad tin this time around. This was in fact a brand new item that had a long lifespan left. After I contacted Amazon, it offered me a full refund to make up for the fact that it is not returnable or exchangeable. As for the tin, it will be used for something else. The tea went in the trash, but the tin was thrown away.
The Tea Forté Organic White Tea WHITE GINGER PEAR, 2 appealed to me as a new tea to try. Because of its many rave reviews, 82 Ounce Loose Leaf Tea is the tea of choice. My only so far experience has been drinking three cups of loose tea, each of which I divided three times using smaller amounts of the mixture. The overpowering Vanilla flavor was too strong for me to balance out. There is no way I'd recommend this product - repeated customers raved about it - but it did not leave my first impression. I was disappointed since I was unable to enjoy the product to my heart's content.
You can taste the difference if you use teepee bags. It was one of the best teas I have ever tasted despite being not a huge tea drinker. While the loose leaf tea tastes different from the tea served in a tea teepee, other people have noted that it is definitely different. There is a stronger licorice flavor with it, of which I am not against, but I do.

A statement like this is not included in the listing. My health would have prevented me from choosing this product had I known prior to purchasing that liquorice is contraindicated for me. This tea is light flavored like a white tea should be like I have tried a number of loose leaf teas. A cup of this hot tea with a little bit of local honey is just what I like. My favorite is a cup of peach flavored white tea, but this is one of the best alternatives. Good quality tea leaves are used in the production of this tea. If this tea were packaged in resealable bags, I could ensure that it would remain fresh.
