Questions & Answers
This is for an analog joystick that has been damaged and needs to be replaced. To remove the old analog stick and replace it with this new analog stick, you'll need to disassemble the entire Nintendo 3DS system. It is simply not a stick cover that allows the grip material on top of the analog joystick to be replaced. To complete the disassembly and installation of this product, you will need to purchase a Nintendo tri wing tipped screw driver.
It has a similar feel to the first. However, "grippy" is not one of the words that comes to mind when thinking of
It works with both the original and new 3DS systems.

For the joystick, there's a cap on it. This isn't a game of chance. For the joystick, there's a cap on it. Before purchasing this, I wish I had read some reviews first. In addition, the title is deceptive. My issue is that my joystick's cover/skin has worn away to the bare plastic, and I need a new one. I don't have to replace the joystick entirely. I looked up the procedure on YouTube, but it's far too complicated, and there's a good chance I'll break my 3DS in the process. Thank you, but no thanks.
I have an original 3DS XL, and while I was playing a game recently, the entire joystick cap popped clean off the system without warning, leaving me with only the thin stick that the cap attaches to to try and play my game. It got lost in the mail the first time I ordered it, but when I contacted them about it, they gave me a full refund (which isn't saying much considering how cheap it is) and sent me another one right away. Note that replacing the joystick requires disassembling your 3DS, so make sure you have some small tools on hand. br>br>It's smaller than the original joystick, but in my experience, this hasn't hampered gameplay at all (though it might if you have larger thumbs). It also has an unusual feel to it. My old joystick was thin and rubbery, whereas this one is made of hard plastic, which I prefer because it gives me the impression that I can be rougher with it without fear of breaking it. I'm guessing this was made in a mold because there's a small plastic piece hanging off the size, but overall, I think it's a lot nicer and more appropriate for my 3DS, and it's a great replacement! If I ever have another problem, I'll buy it again.
With the help of online videos, I was able to replace the nob. It's a muted pink color that's still pretty but not as bright as the picture, and it's noticeably smaller than the original, as other reviews have stated. For the most part, this isn't a big deal; however, because it doesn't cover the inside hole, you can get a better look inside the unit as you move around. Overall, a nice affordable fix to a broken nob. I would have preferred it to be made the correct size, but it looks and feels like it will hold up well. After seeing how simple it was to replace this part, I cringe at the thought of using super glue on the old one, especially with all the important electronics and moving parts.
While installing this, I accidentally severed the L button's ribbon cable, but the circle pad still feels brand new. br>br>The rubber isn't quite as "soft and sticky" as the stock model's. That's what I think it is. Rather than a rubber cap on a thin piece of plastic, this is a solid chunk of rubbery plastic. br>br>I should also mention that installing this device is a pain. That isn't the fault of the product; there are simply too many small, delicate parts. Please follow a reliable guide and consider it to be the GOSPEL. br>br>Overall, it's a good substitute.
By playing smash, I was able to defeat the original circle pad. The plastic began to disintegrate after a period of time, causing sticking and a lack of response. After finally knocking the cap off the old circle pad, I decided to purchase this. It was a fairly straightforward repair. You can learn how to complete the repair by watching one of the many videos available online. It's a little smaller in diameter than the OEM part, but I didn't mind. After I replaced it, I haven't had any problems with the circle pad drifting or sticking. If it doesn't hold up over time and wear, I'll post an update.
I'm not sure if all the positive reviews are fake or paid for, or if they changed what they're shipping in typical Amazon fashion, but this thing is tiny and made of cheap plastic. This has nothing on a Gameboy joystick in terms of feel.
- Too small to fit -br>br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>- Hard plastic at a bargain price.
However, I've never had to replace one that I'd already replaced! I'm not giving up! My kid was concerned about the feel because it had a little less rubber texture, but after a calibration to the pad and a few game plays, he changed his mind and said it was better than ever now that it had been fixed correctly!.
It's a dusty rose that's light pink. I don't mind the difference, but if you were hoping for light pink, you'll be disappointed. It's also a little smaller than the original 3DS XL toggle, but it'll work fine with the black washers you already have. The envelope came in a large size. Overkill. I hope my illustration is of some assistance.
