It is not possible to clean the RecordButler. Using a proper velvet or carbon fiber brush, clean any records that are too dirty. Use the RecordButler only for light dusting and general handling.

My records are meticulously maintained by me. Not only do I want to get the best sound quality out of my albums, but I also want to keep my stylus in good working order and extend its lifespan; no matter how carefully I handled my albums, smudges and fingerprints would occasionally appear. I've also come dangerously close to dropping a few records while "carefully" slipping them into their sleeves. I tried wearing gloves, but they were inconvenient, and soft cloths were too clumsy. It was then that I discovered the Record Butler. It could be as little as $4. 50 felt-lined cardboard pieces (2 for $9), but it's probably the best $9 I've ever spent on Amazon. I keep it next to my turntable at all times, so I can pick it up and re-play it whenever I want. Albums should be sleeved with care and ease. My father got the second one because I liked mine so much. After all, it was he who first introduced me to vinyl.
I've read one (hundred) too many articles about how this can harm the record, the needle, and, apparently, world peace, so I try to be extremely cautious. Unfortunately, no one else I know is as (crazy? They were touching my precious grooves with their human hands (I don't let the dog flip the records) and leaving fingerprints all over the place because they were concerned about fingerprints. I purchased two of these and they are fantastic. Everyone is happy to use them because they are sufficiently unusual and cute. It's been a win-win situation because I haven't had to slap anyone in the face for mishandling vinyl recently. Everyone wins (though, to be honest, I miss flicking people's brows). Regardless, br>br> This is fantastic. Buy them.
These are very straightforward - They were great to give to my daughter who is getting into vinyl because they were made of card board and felt. Her hands were small, and she was having trouble removing the album from the inner sleeve without damaging the grooves. This is fantastic - There will be no fingerprints on her albums, and she will be able to handle them much more easily. I don't recommend cleaning with them as directed in the directions - obtain a good anti- a system with a static brush and/or a D4 Disc Washer Overall, this is a fantastic small item.
I've only recently become interested in vinyl, but after purchasing the Record Butler, I'm adamant that I will never physically handle my own LPs with my oily hands unless it's absolutely necessary. br>br>At first, I thought it was just a marketing ploy, but after using the Genie for about a week, I can say that it is significantly better in terms of handling compared to barely grasping the edges of an LP and the amount of dust/hand oil that comes into contact with my records (which are mostly 40 years old). br>br>I'm not sure how long a pair of these Butlers will last, but when they wear out, I'll definitely buy another pair.
Why did they choose a slick matte finish for the outside of this thing? The purpose of this product is to GRIP your record, so any of the following product designs would have been preferable: 1. br>br> A small "pocket" for your fingertips to slide into on the outsidebr>2. a grippy material, such as the rubbery stretchy adhesive found on some mailersbr>3. Texture/grooves/embossingbr>br>This is an understatement. Maybe they'll improve it in the future, but they're practically useless right now.
Okay, these do a great job of keeping body oil off my records, but honestly, my "Sleeve City" record cleaning cloths do the same thing, and since I have to brush the record before and after I play it, this isn't a big deal. Both handling and dust issues are addressed by my cloth. So, while I was curious about what was going on, I believe it is nothing more than a gimmick, and it is not worth $9.
These are ridiculous, but they are a lifesaver for me because my hands are small and clumsy. br>Would you be able to remove your cookie sheet from the oven with just your hands? Most likely, but wearing oven mitts would be more comfortable. It's also great to be able to hold a record in your hands.
