I bought a used copy of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" SACD from a friend. Unfortunately, on two cuts, "Breathe" and "Money," the disc stuttered (it even stopped playing for a few seconds). Money had a particularly difficult time with the song, stuttering six times. br>br>The company Mobile Fidelity sells a product called "Shine-Ola" that is said to "repair" CDs, DVDs, and SACDs. Shine-Ola has an odd name, and at $25 for a bottle, it's a bit pricey; additionally, I'm wary of "snake oil" products that promise miracle cures. However, I was planning to discard the disc, so I figured I had nothing to lose. I placed my order and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. br>br> The Pink Floyd SACD now plays flawlessly from start to finish, with no stuttering. Could I have achieved the same result with distilled water, a mild detergent, and some caution? Perhaps. However, this is a fantastic way to keep an errant disc from being thrown away.
After using this product to clean up CDs, they sound better.
There is very little information (directions) on the bottle, none in the box, and even less on the Internet. However, I am a firm believer in properly cleaning and maintaining CDs, and Mobile Fidelity has been at the forefront of music (audio) restoration and storage for many years.
To name a few, there is Ray's. It's only flaw is that it's pricey, which is why I didn't give it five stars. So, if price isn't an issue, this product will clean any type of disc and do so effectively.
You'll enjoy the fidelity if you follow the instructions and clean your CDs the way the manufacturer recommends. It performs admirably and comes with a useful cleaning cloth.
A magical concoction.
Mobile Fidelity provided a subpar microfiber. This method is ineffective. Mobile Fidelity provided a subpar microfiber, which left residue, streaks, and a large amount of lint. They refused to give me a refund and refused to accept my return. Zero stars didn't have a choice but to leave one.
It really works.
