During my order, the box containing the product arrived in good condition. A DVR system, a power transformer, and an instruction manual will be included in your purchase. Basically, this kind of product is ordered by two different types of people the people who like it and those who do not like it. People who have some experience, and those who do not have experience. I am one of those who don't have any experience, so when I ordered, I expected it to be easy to get started. There was no way I could have predicted that. Since all we had for hooking up my cameras were A/V jacks, the company hooked up my cameras through those. After ordering this and it arrived, I quickly discovered it would require another type of connection. However, I could not find any information on these forms of connection on Amazon or in the owner's So, I stumbled upon the connections that I needed and ordered them after a few days of searching. As far as I can tell, the interface is neat, and the operation of it is quite simple. It is still a couple of weeks before I can install the cameras because I am waiting on the connectors. I will have to splice, solder, and liquid electrical tape the cables so that everything is tight and clean. In my next review, I will test the product in action and under stressful conditions after I have the cameras installed and have taken photos of it.

Added an update. My second problem occurred after receiving the replacement and that was a connection problem. There were no problems after receiving the replacement. They were very helpful when I contacted support. My problems were resolved within a couple of days because they spent a considerable amount of time walking me through everything. I had a terrible experience with the remote viewing software and servers. Here are some positive points Upon installation and configuration, the DVR and cameras are simple to use. There are no problems with the images from the camera. Remote viewing software is one of the worst we've ever encountered. ZOSI Smart for Android and AVSS for Windows are the worst. Assuming ZOSI has severe issues with their servers and/or the software itself is still not ready for release, we believe that their servers are experiencing major issues. Although several users are set up on the DVR, only the default user "admin" can log in remotely, meaning any attempts to log in are at risk. Our AVSS log in attempts are a little better, but still at risk only 10% of them work. can assure you there is NOTHING wrong with our network setup or DVR system. It is clear that ZOSI is to blame for all the problems. As far as reliability is concerned Due to the fact that we've only been using the setup for a few weeks, we cannot comment. As far as value is concerned While ZOSI's DVR and cameras are inexpensive, the company's software and servers are as bad as its hardware. Our chances of getting a brand with better software/support are slim. Probably going to have to return these otherwise fine pieces of hardware. My issue has been addressed by ZOSI. The representative has emailed me to let me know that they are working on their servers and I should try using the remote applications again within It appears that this is the case. Now, the login process is much more secure, although the success rate is still about 60%. In addition, they should have reported this cause of the login failures when they were working on the servers and 90% of time, the login failed. For the security concern of only allowing viewing remotely from the admin account, ZOSI is sorry but nobody except the administrator will be able to use any other accounts on the DVR. We can't accept that. In order to keep the rating, we will have to return the item and the cameras. An unfortunate loss for a piece of hardware that was reasonably nice.

In regard to this DVR, there is a lot more to learn than what is presented in the book, and customer support has been phenomenal over the past few weeks. There were about 20 letters I sent Whenever I reached out to them, they responded in a timely manner. Please note that the motion sensitivity setting in your app is ONE for the MOST sensitive, not SIX for the LESS sensitive setting. IF you look CLOSER, you can find it in the book. My purchase has been a very satisfying experience. The cameras I am currently using are all running with no problems and on 3 different brands. One thing to keep in mind is not to use a 12 volt power supply for the cameras unless they are a 1 amp or greater power supply. I prefer that a charger don't exceed 1 amp because it will provide poor picture quality and become too warm.

There were a pair of Night Owl DVRs I went through. As someone who is not very tech savvy, I was unaware that this unit could replace Night Owl's DVR, until I searched for it on Amazon. A hard drive is part of the package at a very affordable price. In contrast to more expensive units, this one lacks a hard drive. It is unable to connect to my wireless network, the only problem I can identify with it. The device has the option to search for networks in the menu settings, but my network never shows up and I assume this is due to the fact it does not have a wireless card? I also found it hard to switch from 4 to 3 camera view when setting the display. This camera has eight lenses. As the item was hard to find in the menu, we played around a lot before figuring it out without the help of anyone else. So far I am very pleased with this product, especially for.
