Since the cloud key gen2 plus had more storage space for more cameras, I chose to go with UniFi Protect over Unifi Video. At present I'm running nine cameras, all G3 line, so I'm not ready for 4K. There are two 8TB seagate ironwolf hard drives installed, so I have quite a bit of storage at the moment. As soon as I start adding some 4K cameras, I will probably give it a couple more 8TB hard drives.
It seems to be working as expected.
There are major issues when installing this and it probably isn't for a beginner. During the trial period, Cloud Key Gen 2 Plus is easier to use for inexperienced users. As such, if you are comfortable with logging into the shell via SSH, tweaking SSL certificate exemptions, as well as manually (via SSH) updating firmware, it seems to be a useful product that is fairly priced with good expandability.
Since some of the prices that are asked here on Amazon are almost twice as much as what ubiquiti is asking, I purchased mine directly from Ubiquiti. I've found it to be a very helpful addition to my security system.
