The only time you'll need an APP is to set up your dvr for remote viewing because it'll be connected to the TV via HDMI.

With a 400mb internet connection, Zosi Smart Client for iOS lags horribly; forget about real time; even opening the app takes three seconds to enjoy their "ad. " Any settings you make in the app, such as choosing "clear" over "fluent," are lost when you reopen it. The MacOS client does not work, and there are no options for accessing the dvr via a website. Avoid this brand as much as possible.
Although the product works well as a DVR, I only used it for a few days. The S/W is difficult and full of mistakes. The first challenge of the S/W was obtaining an e-mail address. That would be acceptable mail. I finally figured out how to use a Gmail account and was able to sign up. The software vanished from my screen after I logged in, leaving only the task bar. I'm a seasoned PC user, but I couldn't get it to appear on the screen no matter what I tried. Other software packages were available on their website that installed and ran, but none of them provided me with a live camera. I was able to get the software to run on an older Windows 7 laptop, but the cameras were not displayed. The S/W includes a feature that allows each camera to have its own IP address. The S/W says to consult the manual, but there is no mention of this in the manual. I tried contacting the help desk, but they only respond to messages on Facebook and by e-mail. mail. I attempted both and received an e-mail response. After 20 hours, I received an email. The response was essentially an apology for everything while providing no real information. They requested screen shots of the display, which I provided. I received another response 20 hours later, this time with a string of apologies and a request for the model number, which was already included in the subject line. After three days of wrangling with this, I packed it up and returned it to Amazon.
Given the low price (and the fact that the build is much flimsier and cheaper--I didn't expect to get better hardware). looking), but at the very least, I had hoped for more up- software that keeps track of time Instead, I'm dealing with a situation that is nearly non-existent. The iPhone app is sluggish but functional, and the remote connection is handled by third-party servers! In essence, you are paying and self-supporting. infiltrating your home network with a Trojan horse Rather than sitting quietly, that thing will attempt to establish some strange (non-human) relationship right away. non-secure http on port 80 Connections to servers in London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Beijing, and California over https on port 443. All of this is, of course, a ruse to keep you from properly configuring your firewall. Unlike my older box, they don't give you root (or any) access to the operating system. While this is to be expected when purchasing an iPhone, They make it clear that you do not own software and must rely on Apple and your phone service provider; Zosi is not a service provider, and I have no reason or intention of entrusting my network to them. br> Thank you for your consideration, but no thanks!.
This DVR is a complete waste of money. I used to have an 8-camera Floureon DVR that died after four years. As a result, I bought this DVR because floureon was completely sold out. I connected my existing cameras to this DVR (one of which is a PTZ 1080p camera), and the quality is terrible. I work from home and am accustomed to watching these cameras out of the corner of my eye for up to five minutes. 6 hours a day, six days a week. So, when I connected the new DVR, which is supposed to be "1080," I immediately noticed how poor the picture quality is. The playback of the recordings is a disaster. Everything about the user interface is terrible, and nothing works as it should. Total nonsense. br>br> This is a complete waste of money. Floureon was a less expensive DVR that was ten times as good as this garbage.
This unit is identical to a million others. I was a little annoyed that it's a four channel that appears to come with eight channel display software, but at least it hasn't defaulted from four to eight screens in the weeks we've had it. That would be inconvenient because we purchased this to replace an 8 channel that would not display only the four cameras we desired on a single monitor. So far, it's been a case of "set it and forget it," and we're fine with that. Short-term, it appears to be happy with any hard drive that fits, and it installed quickly with the software prompts, but long-term use requires a good quality video hard drive, not just anything lying around.
Our 5 year old speco dvr bit the dust, so we ordered this one and used our old hard drive. This unit is significantly smaller than our old speco dvr, and the fan is much quieter. br>The dvr requires virtually no set up, just plug it in, connect your cameras, and you're good to go. br>The android app for remote viewing is easy to set up, and unlike our old unit, it does not require port forwarding. br.
So, before I bought this DVR, I noticed all the negative reviews, but I decided to take a chance on it, and when I received it, I liked it because it looked nice, was light (I bought it without the storage), and it came with a manual, the power cord, and a mouse. In my opinion, they should try to include a better mouse because it was difficult to move the pointer on the screen even after using a mousepad, so get yourself a better mouse. It was also easy The picture quality isn't great, but it's good enough for me to see in the dark. I discovered that turning on a light outside helps a little more (I'm using a zosi dome wall 90 degree black camera). I'm not sure if I just got lucky with a good DVR or if the others were having trouble getting theirs to work properly.
