made my first electronics purchase that is labeled as "refurbished" after taking a chance on this. After installing my Western Digital purple hard-drive into the NVR as instructed, I plugged my cameras into the back ports of the NVR and fired it up for the first time. All of my Hikvision cameras (1 month and 7 years old) connected instantly. With this surveillance system, I am using a new color camera called Colorvu. It works perfectly. As well as these three cameras, I also have three more old bullet-style Hikvision cameras (4 In order to check how this NVR will work with an off brand camera, I will also try an off brand camera that is ONVIF compatible. One reviewer noted that it was a little tricky to connect the HD to the NVR because the wiring harness was a little short. After trying a couple or three different orientations, I found an opening on the HD that was able to line up with the pre-wired connector. As far as the cord goes, there was enough cord and no need to drill holes for the screws. The MyDlink program usually is a few minutes behind what's actually happening, so receiving an email with a capture from this NVR beats the Dlink alarm almost every time. The security camera that you see in the video has the usual security camera problems. The IE browser only works in a certain browser once Getting video clips out of the system is difficult. Would it be difficult to include descriptive mouseovers and, instead of just saying something is not working, provide a detailed error message instead? Why does the video extracted from a video file have to be What if you extract a clip and you want to insert it in a future video, but you can't choose the same clip time as the last one? Would be interesting to know whether they even test it before manufacturing. It is too short a cable for a HDD to be able to be connected. Idiots at their finest.
