[Overview]
I bought this unit to replace a security DVR (different brand) that I received Live viewing is being done in a remote location that is rarely visited, but has access to a 3Mbps DSL connection. In my case, I needed something that could handle 14 cameras and have plenty of local storage for historical reviews, as well as send alerts when motion is detected. In comparison to my original unit, this one was a great improvement. So far, I have no complaints about the service, after being in use for about a week. It was quick and easy to set up because the screen interface is modern and intuitive. It was easy to connect the mobile app as well, though setting up multiple users on the mobile app is best done so that you can work on it together. There are some things to be acknowledged/shared on the sharing/acknowledgement side. Web access on the DVR is extremely useful if you're on the same network, if you're using a VPN, or if you've allowed the firewall to accept traffic from it. For most of the configuration work, I used a Windows PC and found it to be more responsive and easier to use than using a screen connected There is no problem with the video experience through any of the available options, even over slow DSL connections. I don't expect to need to use the older video clips feature very often, but it is a bit slow when viewing older videos. [Working with support]However, there was an issue with sending email alerts that I mentioned earlier. Annke's website had a clear guide available which explained how to set up a Gmail account. It was impossible for me to pass the email test no matter what I tried. Even after seeking help a number of times, I couldn't send it. The settings, account details, and password had been repeatedly verified. In the end, I opened a support ticket on their website. Unfortunately, my spam filter got their response and delayed things. We spent a lot of time testing and checking things but still were unable to make it work. In the end, they suggested holding the session via remote connection. It was easy to schedule an appointment, but you had to choose from 9pm EST or later and about a week in advance. Because the support desk is situated in a far different time zone, I think this is the reason why. This shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep it in mind when After we worked through the problem and got connected, the problem appeared to be a simple password issue. The problem was solved when I changed my password after I had confirmed many, many times that I was using the correct credentials. [Caveats]
- In my previous unit, I had configured motion detection alerts to apply to FTP video clips stored in the cloud. The FTP option is not supported by this product. I am 100% to blame for not triple checking The fault lies with the feature list, not with the product. If Annke's are checking, perhaps it's worth including some form of cloud backing or a basic FTP/SFTP option in future versions. I am in a remote location and that would be helpful. - Having email alerts and using a Gmail account can lead to problems, so I recommend you create a new Gmail account first. Make sure that you don't piggyback This is just another personal account that you use on a daily basis. In addition, keep in mind that Gmail has a limit on the number of emails you can send per day. Occasionally, these alerts may not be able to get through an area with a lot of activity, leaving you without them. *. *. - Make sure that your motion sensitivity is set properly, and select which cameras you want to receive alerts, otherwise you'll become overwhelmed with alerts and stop paying attention. I intend to replace an eight-channel DVR with this ANNKE one DVR with three channels and three megapixels that has been operational for many It took about 30 minutes to connect the new DVR and all of the cameras were immediately available. Our previous DVR worked flawlessly for years and this one plugged into the existing one and worked right away. These pieces of equipment are second to none.

After about 5 years of using another brand DVR, I just replaced it with this one and I'm very impressed with how easy it is to find and watch videos because it's much easier than my old DVR. The video playback was fairly laggy, and it took way too long to get to a particular point when a particular event occurred. Despite the fact that it recorded only motion events. With this DVR, you can look at it with just a few clicks of your fingers. It is that alone that I love. **The rest of the interface is well-done. As all my cameras are wired, I have not tried any online/app related stuff.
