The description indicates it's a 4ch unit with a loop output, but when I glance at the photos, I see 8ch inputs, with no loop outputs. Can you confirm which is it?

There are 4 input channels and 4 loop out channels on the unit. Probably because the manufacturer uses the same back panel for the eight channels multiplexers, that's why there are eight channels depicted on the back panel.

In what context does the loop out function come into play? What are my options for setting up each output screen lay out separately?

Looping out of an image is only relevant for duplicate images. Every screen has what you set on it, and the loop out has the same set up.

How about black and white cameras? Will this still work properly?

In other words, it still works fine In addition, if you connect this item to a black and white camera, the images will be in black and white as well.

If you use this mirroring function, are you able to flip horizontally (backwards), as well as vertically (upside-down)?

The mirror feature of this device is not available.

It does not appear to be possible to disable it via the menu. If it's quiet in the room, it won't work. there is no power switch It is necessary to unplug the unit or to add a power strip or to switch the line voltage to work. 3) LED lights are too bright to be used in There is no way to switch 4) The unit I received was missing the remote, and a note saying "RMA" was handwritten on the box. I have to manually close the battery compartment in order for the remote to work. Regardless, I would probably open up the remote and remove the beeper and tape over the LEDs if the remote wasn't damaged. Here's an update I was quickly replaced with a new unit by Amazon after I RMA'd my unit. In spite of the somewhat clumsy menu system, I was able to turn off the annoying beeping and change the resolution of the display to 1080 so my TV would not have
The LEDs can be tolerated if two of them are covered with four layers of blue tape. As I will be using a power strip, I can turn it off and on as needed.

REMADE SURE THE POWER SUPPLY WAS IN A SINGLE Please make sure that the power supply is in one box, mine was missing the power supply

There may be an open hole in the box, but from the other appearance, it appears to be that way. Except for that, the unit has done an okay job so far. I have a completely different story to tell about the shipping. TURNING OUT TO BE BIGGER THAN THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONE WAS. After a week of using the more expensive item, I discovered it was acting up. It seems that this unit is running smoothly so far.

This operator's manual contains very little information and is written in very very poor English. A horizontal line appears at the bottom of the display, and the colors are rather dull and unclear. Compared to the unit it replaced, the new unit had good color and clarity. This unit will be replaced. I do not recommend it.

When I logged into my Amazon account and re-ordered it, I was able to see the item I had previously purchased After paying for the same product, I was disappointed to receive a completely different product that won't suit my needs. My return will be made soon.
