Product Description

Continuing Uniden's tradition of innovation, the BCD536HP is the latest model in their line. Because it only takes a few seconds to program, Home Patrol is the simplest mobile professional scanner we've ever built.
With the Wi-Fi feature, you will also be able to use your smartphone or tablet to access the exclusive Uniden Siren App from anywhere in the house or in your car.
A 536HP digital Trunk Tracker V is the first unit that can be used from both desktops and mobile devices. Trunk Tracker V will do the rest for you once you turn it on in the morning and enter your zip code.
Users will be able to quickly connect to the communications systems used by Public Safety, Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Ambulance, Aircraft, Military, and Weather departments.
In combination with Radio Reference's rich radio system database and Uniden's proprietary method to identify and monitor nearby radio networks, radio systems from the USA and Canada are correctly identified and monitored.
The location(s) can be set by zip/postal code or GPS coordinates when using the scan by location feature

Questions & Answers

Uniden has yet to fix the WiFi dongle or add the siren app? Still no updates after a year? This thing has been on the market for over a year. ?

In addition to the BCD536HP scanner, I also purchased the BC-300 There is an antenna for GPSK. As far as I am concerned, this information is nothing more than Dan M's big fat lie. The app was the most important selling point for the With the scanner, you can even connect it to the computer via Wi-Fi Dongle for Internet access You can even view the Wi-Fi connections when you download the package You can connect your Wi-Fi dongle to Is it really over a year already? ARE YOU SURE? ARE YOU SURE? It is highly recommended that no one purchase anything from Uniden until they make good on their promise on the MOST expensive scanner system they have ever offered. Even though I have invested over $600 in it, it is still not done.

What you say is true, but is it true that you need only input your zip code and you will receive your online quote?

As you said, this is true, but I also use the program ARC536PRO to monitor all my received signals. This receiver is excellent. Getting started is as simple as providing the Zip code. It is through YouTube videos that I gained a lot of knowledge. Play along and have a great time!

Does this unit have a USB port in the car that can be used to power it?

scanner does not run on the USB cable, but comes with a cigarette lighter adapter and hardwire cable so that it can be connected to a vehicle It is possible to use one of those cables to power the unit, but the USB cable is only used for data transfer.

Would I receive a new unit that does not have the bug that has to be returned to Uniden for repair if I order this now?

The seller must return his stock if he was instructed to do so. All current stock will There is no way to know this except for the seller. Prior to purchase, you would need to get in touch with them directly. Since everyone was sold out for a few weeks during the recall, I would assume all the original stock with the bug has been sold. My guess is that it is now safe. You can still get a new unit even if you got the old, and Uniden will give you an extended warranty of 3 years. I think it's pretty good. Seeing as the seller has answered, I will disregard my comments for now

The BCD536HP compared with the TRX This version of the Uniden BCD536HP is still in my possession after almost three years of owning the unit
4/5

I also purchased its DMR upgrade and have enjoyed About a week ago, I sent the RTC unit in for repair because I had an issue with it Considering that it has been so long since they accepted it, I am surprised. Uniden, I'd like to thank you! In other news, I picked up a Whistler TRX-45 We bought 2 about 2 weeks ago and have to say that the BCD536HP has been the better choice. As soon as I get my BCD536HP back, I'll be able to use them simultaneously more often. The BCD536HP has a larger screen that shows more detail about the For HOLD status, it has 32 character for larger font size across another four. *Note that the TRX boots much faster than the TRX I still managed to use version 2, even with the RTC error asking me to reset the clock. It begins scanning 16 seconds after turning on the power button after the RTC has been fixed. • Speaker has a more pronounced voice I can listen to people I talk with locally on Ham bands and the audio is natural sounding. Those interested in GPS scanning can buy or use the unit however, I haven't personally used it or purchased it. This support means that you can use third-party software, such as It is about $10 cheaper than the other brand A new price of $5 less is offered by HRO There is nothing spectacular about Sentinel's programming software, which is basic and not as polished as Whistler's To stay up to date, you'll need to find it on their website. TRX- 2- The Digital Trunking Scanner Programming System is more polished than that of Uniden, and it makes it easier to upgrade all components all In the V-Series, configurable points can be stored in different ways There is a scanner function that is useful. It was free to upgrade to the NXDN system. It sounds hollow when I speak to people on Ham bands locally because the speaker is not as loud as it used to be. The shape of the spout is tin can-esque and the detachable head (something I dislike) is light and cheap in feel Despite being thin, the mount is also The screen size is too small and belongs on a handheld device instead of a mobile or desktop The font is smaller and has 16 characters across. • The supplied Whistler USB cable is way too short unless you are using the scanner on the same desk as your notebook. The lights behind two of the five white keys are the only ones glowing. The remaining keys do not seem to have any light • The flickering of the backlighting display has been noticed This setting allows scanning of top level lists rather than actual targets' The new 2m Ham and 150-m Ham have the paging system integrated It does not appear on BCD536HP, receivers, SDRs, or Ham gear based on a 160MHz spectrum. • It is too easy to accidentally save a configuration if you click on something and it will automatically save it for you. The Library copy process was extremely slow and stuck at 42% while copying the initial library It appeared that clicking on the window woke it up as it looked as though it had frozen. This same cable can be used with the BCD536HP to update the database in a much quicker manner. • The scanner starts scanning 3 minutes and 7 seconds after the power button is held down (for about 3 seconds). It takes a while every time you go into the Menu, back out, and then the lists reload again! It does not support software from third parties.

The scanner is excellent! As a warning, here is what you need to know Many of the reviews on this page are not for this product. of them are for older Uniden scanner models that have little to nothing Despite the fact that these reviews appear here, I do not understand why they are there. Next, I'll tell you what I think.
It is a great scanner, easily the best I have owned, and I have owned quite a few dating back to the 1970s. Then again, I should also point out this is easily one of the most maligned pieces of electronic equipment on the market, and its reputation is not In early 2014, this scanner was a big hit with early adopters, but early reports noted problems, such as faulty headphone jacks and corrupt SD cards. Units that were returned to the company for repair or replacement were replaced or repaired as a result of the headphone jack issue. There seem to be conflicting reports about the SD card issue, but many who have encountered it have discovered that replacing the SD card that came with the scanner with a new one solved it or made it completely disappear. A few users have reported that the LCD backlight has gradually dimmed with use. This is worrisome, so I try to use the radio with the backlight either off, or set as dim as possible to preserve the life of the LCD. I don't want to discover this the hard way, but I suspect this problem is affecting some units and not others. A second concern is the battery of the clock. The clock battery in some clocks has died after months of use. They have not been able to re-charge it or keep it charged. While the clock will still work if your clock battery is not charged, it will require you to enter the date and time each time the radio starts. Although this will not prevent the radio from working, it will take In addition, Uniden took an entire year to release the Siren app for Apple's iPhone, something that was touted as a major new feature when it was released with the Siren radio. OK, so all that sounds bad, and it does, but I still find this to be an amazing I tested the Siren app and it works well within my wifi network of my house, at least so far. There is no problem with the headphone jack on my radio. I have re-attached it 2) I have a working clock, with the Uniden Sentinel software that comes free The bones are there, but they are This tool enables the radio to be updated with the latest firmware. In my experience, the radio scans quickly, and its UHF and VHF sensitivity greatly exceeds what I expected from user comments I'd read on the Internet. I really like the look and sound of this radio! As far as I can tell, this scanner is not comparable to the "Pinto" of police scanners, which, let's face it, it Compared to a BMW, it looks cool. Fit and finish are excellent, and the design is beautiful. I like how the controls feel and how well they work There are more Alpha Tag characters to choose from than ever before with this display, and it's very nice to look at. There is nothing like it in the world, even in refinement. It would be easily 5 stars if there weren't all the design and quality control issues that have plagued it, at least did in the past.
Now I will enter in my opinion that many people will be disappointed with the Home Patrol component. In fact, it's touted as a key feature, and yes you can enter your Zip Code and start scanning for local police and fire departments right away. I have found, however, that it often loads up a lot of stuff you won't enjoy listening to, thus making the scan process slower as the scanner has to travel through a lot of channels you might not choose. The answer to both questions is yes. You can hit "Avoid" on anything and you can select only the kinds of communications you want. You may have tried all these methods, but scanners will work best if you program them. The music YOU want to hear is what you put in. It is therefore crucial to learn how to program the radio properly, either with Sentinel software or via the Butel software (a subscription at radio reference will be helpful if you are able to A properly set up radio will make you enjoy listening to it infinitely more. It will be a time well spent, and there are lots of resources available online if you are a novice with a scanner and live in an area with complex communications systems. If this is your first scanner, you should expect that learning how to program it will take some time. Online Marks Easier To Read manual makes a great starting point. Look at Radio Reference, too. www. com is a huge database of help and information, as well as users who provide insightful feedback. Thank you.
I hope it.

This scanner has a long history of hardware problems and poor customer support
3/5

I find it easier to use another scanner. It is supposed to be a simple setup. If you put in your zip code or GPS location, punch in the distance radius, and set the date/time, the scanner typically wants to scan counties that are well outside my area and your radius is While the menus are a bit difficult to use, the manual is on the whole fairly A known issue with the display of the game is the real issue. Upon doing the setup of my scanner, the screen went blank (white text with no backlight). A wiki forms the basis of the company's website My antivirus software (Bitdefender) blocks and warns me that the page is unsafe when it identifies it as being a web-based page. As soon as you whitelist the page, the company points you to either RadioReference forums or Yahoo forums. These are all user-contributed forums. As a result. As far as the support page goes, it looks like it was designed in the early 1990s. That's not acceptable for a scanner that costs this much. It is possible to find better units! There is a tendency for the screen to go dark or completely black. There are several fixes out there for replacing the microSD card, but one must dig a bit to find posts with instructions on how to fix the issue. It is almost universal for people to send back the unit.
