Questions & Answers

Works with Wink if this model exists?

In my case, it has worked normally with my Wink hub v1 and version 4 of the software. As of 5/27/2019, 5 pairs were paired. To include this device, I had to add it to the generic Z-series list To make it work correctly, it must be paired with a "Wave Sensor". The non-native behaves the same as the native It is also available from the same vendor as the Zwave plus sensor.

Do you think it will work with Amazon Alexa, Echo Dot or Echo Show?

Directly connecting to Amazon devices is not possible with this sensor. The device talks to a Z-wave device Then, through WiFi, it can speak to Alexa through a hub capable of sending waves, such as Samsung's Smart Home or Wink.

The "plus" model is not exactly the same (and it costs less), what is the difference?

There is a new certification program called Wave PlusTM designed to help consumers identify products that utilize the recently released 'Next Gen' Z-wave technology. 500 Series hardware platform, also known as 5th Generation Z-Series, is used to update wireless mesh networks. This wave will use the Z-wave protocol Z-Wave Plus certified solutions offer a selected set of enhanced features and capabilities that are designed to enhance the end-user experience and make Z-Wave systems more efficient and effective Installing and setting up the Wave is now faster and easier than ever before. In summary, the Plus model is the more economical and best option in this case.

What is the weather resistance of this motion detector?

Sadly, we cannot use it in the rain. Despite its shortcomings, it is an excellent motion detector.

The best motion detector on the market You'll be glad you did if you get This is the eighth motion detector that I've purchased for use in my home security system over the last year
3/5

I am confident that these will be the best Zwave plus motion detectors in this price range that will work with Smartthings based on both my experience and online research. Silver lining, though, is not all there is to this The percentage of these units that are running "hot" is higher than usual in my experience. I purchased nine units and two of them ran hot. They could cause false alarms, making my security system unsuitable for use with them. A false alarm was coming from one of my "hot" sensors (one that continued to be reported constantly) until I changed it for another identical sensor, and the false alarm am aware it is possible to reduce the sensitivity of these units, but I did not test that option because I am having trouble reducing the sensitivity of my security system because it appears that the sensor has been calibrated improperly. The latter is a problem especially when other identical units work just fine. Also, good luck with getting any warranty service if your sensor malfunctions. In the last few weeks, I have tried contacting them myself and through Amazon, but neither of us have been able to find any contact information. Neither the manual nor the website provide information about how to obtain warranty service. Therefore, my opinion is that you should consider them because this is probably the best product on the market and the price is fair. Be aware, however, that a higher than normal percentage of them may run "hot" and might not be suitable for use with a security system. In addition, I don't think you'd have a good chance of getting a replacement warranty if you do need to replace one. certainly hope you have better luck, but I highly doubt you will be able to get a refund from them in light of their nonexistent warranty service.

The motion sensor is a reliable and effective tool
4/5

Review of Original Submission Motion is extremely slow to be detected. To keep my arms moving at the same time, I nearly have to go in front of it. Installed according to specs, but it is simply not reliable, especially if you want to use it to monitor security systems. The following is an update In another review, I found that the sensitivity of the Pet detection can be adjusted with a jumper block. The motion sensor on my camera was slow to detect motion, so I wondered if it might have been related to this. I have this setup constructed in such a way that if it detects motion in my garage, the garage lights will turn Depending on how long the motion lasts, the lights come on and It seems so simple, doesn't it? As soon as I opened the door, the lights would come on for a good three minutes It happened in four seconds. I don't like it. The factory had set the jumper to Pet2 from the factory, so I opened up the case and noted this. It was completely off since I do not want any pet detection to occur. In case I needed the jumper again in the future, I kept it in the case. As soon as I clipped the case back to the wall, the case was closed up. I have now discovered that my motion detector is instantly activated when I open the door. Exactly as it should be, the lights come on. That's awesome! I love it so much! After it works properly I do not think anything needs to be changed. Therefore I rate it as 5 stars.

It's time for light to shine! At the time I purchased the unit, I had concerns about Motion detection and the resulting "lights on" were reported to be delayed significantly in a number of reviews
5/5

Having a Smartthings Hub, however, means that this will not be an issue. are the steps I take to use the detector As soon as we left our master bedroom, we turned on a light in the hallway leading from the master bedroom. This hallway gets very dark at night and we wanted to be prepared for it. As well, we wanted the light to stay on for seven minutes before turning back off. Nothing to worry about! I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. It took me about 30 seconds to set it up using the Smart Lights application in Smartthings. Lights are lit when motion is detected, but only between 11 pm and 7 am, and are turned off after more than a minute if movement is not detected. People often mention that they find it difficult to do this with other tools, but this tool was easy to use and it works well. Although I was concerned about reviews that claim a significant time lag between detection and "lights on" is not the case with Smartthings Hub, I am happy to say it is not an issue. When motion is detected (the detector flashes a green light when motion is detected), the lights are turned on nearly instantly. No such thing as a 3-year plan The Smartthings Hub does not experience a 5 second delay as others have described (at least not with the hub). There is one problem with the installation guide, which is a poor explanation of how to pair the device. To remove the battery tape from your Smartthings device, you need to start the "add a thing" process before removing After three failed attempts, I was able to solve this problem. I'd dock this one star if I were you. In spite of the documentation mess, the unit works fine and is a 5 star product. Hey! *emphasis on the word *emphasis on the word
The letter Z is in it I use wave plus to strengthen and lengthen my z-wave In the house, there is a wave network. Getting bumped into things or stepping on toys in the dark is no longer an issue. Excellent product! I love it!.

I like the quick response and the functionality it offers
4/5

I have had no problems pairing with my SmartThings hub and have enjoyed its performance. As a test before I purchase more to cover other parts of the house, I bought this to take with me. As this is located in an area that is "off limits" to my pets, I cannot say whether or not it will be immune to them. It will continue to perform well for a couple more weeks and I will buy some more so that they can be installed in areas where pets are present. My review will be updated with the performance data once I have it. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to give this product a perfect 5 star rating. First and foremost, you might consider an AAA or AA battery over the current option. Second, while you can mount this in a number of ways and angle it laterally during installation, you cannot tilt it (my preferred placement would have been on a 12 foot ceiling corner In order for it to perform at its best when mounted so high, it will need to be tilted down. Taking the time to choose the most suitable location before making permanent installation was worth the effort.
