One of the things I like most about it is the lack of batteries to change. It had batteries in the sensor and the unit that received and sounded an alarm. With this one, a solar-powered sensor (that you can still charge with a USB port if you do not get enough sunlight) connects to a household outlet, and the receiver plugs into the same The volume can also be adjusted and the alarm sounds can be changed. Over the past two weeks, it has rained a lot and the sensor unit hasn't seemed to be phased by the rain at all.
