Product Description

Its passive infrared (PIR) sensor circuit board detects moving vehicles, animals, and people, so you can monitor your home or office 24/7 with the Dakota Alert MURS Alert Transmitter (MAT)
It instantly alerts you when a PIR detector detects a person - at that moment, the transmitter circuit board automatically sends a pre-programmed message to the MURS M538-BS Base Station or M538-HT Radio Transceiver.
It is easy to expand - you can put one in the driveway, two in the house, four outside and four inside, so you can expand your system as needed
This PIR sensor provides a long detection range. It can detect moving objects at a distance of 30 feet to 80 feet (depending on the terrain).
The MAT has a flexible mounting option - It can be mounted on a tree or post for monitoring activities at a remote location. You can use this when unexpected people arrive on your site and you want to be notified

The red led sensor is hidden behind a white plastic window, but inside the unit is a red led that lights up. No matter how dark the night may get, I have yet to see it from outside the unit. The cover must be lifted when testing or adjusting is taking place. The only place it can be found is on my gate pillar hidden behind a glass. This is a great unit that I would definitely recommend. One of them has been in my possession for over a decade.

There are many factors that affect customer satisfaction! I'm a retired broadcaster, and I'd like to start by saying that I'm a retired broadcaster A lot of RF experience for an engineer in the aerospace industry
3/5

There were many issues with water/moisture with earlier units, as many have stated. Though I have spoken with Dakota Alert technicians extensively, I cannot say they are engineers, although I believe they are extremely helpful! First of all, use ALKALINE or LITHIUM batteries that are of good quality! The power source must provide a large amount of current in order for these devices to transmit. An impaired performance will be the result of low current from a poor battery! An outdoor device like this should never have been linked to a BNC antenna connector like the one on the earlier versions of this unit. I also believed that the telescopic antenna was a very bad idea, for a couple of There is usually a weather associated cause, as water can find its way into the antenna joints and then into the housing via the BNC connector! While water damage to the transmitter can be devastating, operating it with the antenna not installed or not fully extended can be much more harmful. A transistor in the RF output can be destroyed by this. The damage from this alone is more likely to be permanent than damage caused by water. However, the manual does not tell you what to do if you have no antenna, but the instructions do warn against operating the device with no antenna. The newer version with the SMA connector and rubber duck antenna has a few advantages over the BNC model, but also some problems. The SMA bulkhead fitting in the top of the housing should be well insulated from the external environment, but it is not. The rubber-filled area on the inside of the boot should not just be the rubber-filled area With a plastic-backed sealing washer on the outside it's impossible to keep a good seal against the fitting's threads. One issue was a rubber washer added to the first generation of SMA antenna, which prevented the antenna from screwing on far enough to make contact. This has since been resolved, but a good number of those were It may be more stealthy and suffer less water intrusion than the telescopic antenna, but the effective radiated power (ERP) of the rubber duck antenna is only about 25% of the power of a 1/4 wave whip antenna like the telescopic antenna. In other words, the transmitter performs about 1/4th as well with the same amount of power as it used to with the continuous use of In the antenna, the remainder of that energy is wasted. Instead of a thick flexible whip antenna, Dakota Alert should have used a thin flexible 1/4 wave whip antenna. Both the telescopic antenna and the rubber ducky antenna would be less noticeable while still allowing the transmitter to operate at full capacity. Next, it's time to change the sex. There is just too much softness in the female voice to be heard well unless the volume is turned up higher than it actually If you rely on Dakota Alert base stations and/or HTs for daily communication around your homestead like we do, this is a big issue. An adjustment can be made by adjusting a tiny pot near the top of the transmitter board. As you turn clockwise, the transmitted audio will be raised. A5 Khz) certified antennas for the MURS channels 1 to 4 The FCC allows up to 3 MHz of transmitted audio to pass through. Turning it up too loud can cause the transmission to exceed this limit. The transmission frequency of MURS channels 4 and 5 is The channels are not limited by the same restrictions as 5. 5 Khz).
In my experience, I have tried several motion alarm systems and have found the Dakota Alert MURS system to be the best one for my needs. My job is to monitor remote properties and property boundaries in often inclement weather through a lot of trees. This type of MURS alert system penetrates wet foilage much better than the more common and less expensive UHF system available to the general public. Nonetheless, I have noted some of the design and implementation issues as well as a few others that I have There needs to be a ground radiator or ground plane on every transmitter in a VHF system. It is common for RF to get into transmitted audio, causing buzzing or tones to be heard from By using 1/2 wave antennas on the transmitters, this can be reduced to a minimum. The performance could be maintained with either half of that placed in an internal or external loading coil placed at the base of a 1/4 wave whip antenna. My entire fleet of wireless alert transmitters has been upgraded with 1/2 waves whip antennas strung on 37 inches of 1/4 wave cable. Music wire made from stainless steel is a fine wire.

I hope this review is useful to.

An alert system that is good
5/5

The system is installed around the property where we live. When water gets in through the antenna, it is very important that the unit is properly protected. To seal the joint, a rubber gasket made from an old inner tube has been used This is the antenna, with the tube over it. As far as I can tell, this seems to make sense. In addition to the battery holder, I also installed an extra battery holder so each of my units has 12 AA batteries rather than Since the batteries can last for more than six months on average when done every day, they have been able to survive a lot longer. If snow remains on the sensor, the system will fail to send an alert. We live in a very cold climate, which is why it is important to clear snow from the Since our sensors are only about 200 feet from the receiver, the distance from the sensor to the receiver does not present a problem. There's no return. When it comes to reliability, I have had some sensors that failed within a year after installation, and after installing gaskets on the new ones, the sensors are still working after five.

The system is one of the best on the market for long range warnings
5/5

These have been a part of my daily life for four years Over the past five years, several properties have been rented. Unlike most wireless motion sensors, these sensors can broadcast over a greater distance. (Line of sight) I can hear the signal from over a mile away. This type of gate is ideal for long driveways, outbuildings, and fence gates, among other uses. The receiver I have in the house is a Dakota Base. Nevertheless, my Ham radios (handheld and base station) can also pick up the signal. **There are four zones that can be set in the voice alert. My driveway is being backed up by several people. In case of only one alert, it means that there are no deer or dogs nearby. In the case of Zone 4, Zone 3, Zone 2, I'll immediately think of. There is someone approaching my gate," I think to myself. The birdhouse will serve as a concealer of Battery life is typically at least one month with good batteries.

At a low price you can change the detection time or change the security level
4/5

I bought one to try it out. Everything seems to be going well so far. There is a problem with concealing the transmitter because it is quite large. Rain and other outdoor elements are no match for it. Having not used it in heavy rain or snow, I cannot comment on its performance in such conditions. It looks like I can customize my own powering method instead of using the 6 AA batteries. The TX can detect basic motion, so I will be able to see a live feed of the WiFi cam feed and examine it immediately once it is activated. This free service works, and there is no charge for usage. It has a wide range of applications. The motion sensor works when the car is in motion. I found out this at my car dealer. In the next step, I move the device to my front door, my car's seat, the passenger's seat, my rear door, and so forth. It can be particularly helpful if you are camping in remote areas or other solo activities in which you want to determine who or what is behind or around you. When the RX is on my belt, I can receive an alert if I am in a sensitive area. There has to be a line of sight between the receiver and transmitter. The range of these weapons will be limited in a populated city. My reach is limited at 3000 feet even though I tried to walk away from the source. I would recommend this detection to anyone who needs to detect temporary or rapidly changing circumstances. A range adjustment jumper makes it simple to adjust the range of detection. For those who are worried that their package may be stolen by wandering bystanders or the perp, the black enclosure has 2 mounting holes that can be blocked with a combination wire lock. It is not possible to operate the TX in full vertical. Since the lid cover is on the side, it is required to be on the side. Even with limitations, I'll buy multiples of these UHF to complete my perimeter coverage. There isn't a lot to complain about or ask for at this price.

According to their advertising, they work
4/5

the fact that I can get an alert when 2020 zombie aliens are entering my property, even when people are on foot, driving, and deer are around. It has been a pleasure using the battery so far, and the range is excellent. I'd like to see the voice change up a bit, as well as use more zones besides 4. Zombie enemies can arrive from any direction, and the property is big enough that it would be nice to be able to use a number of them. As a bonus, it helps to know my unit is located in another radio in case I use it. In the past, I had one that failed, but it fell off the post and sat there with the sensor straight up during heavy rain for several months. There was a complete fill of water in the entire unit. In any case, it probably would have been fine if it hadn't fallen off the mount (my fault). The new units I bought recently (this review) seem to be of good quality. Their infrastructure has seen a number of rainstorms with no problems so far.
