The Dot 3 was the first thing I bought, but I realized I would need a battery base if I tried to use it outdoors. This is my first base and I love it so far! Whenever I want to run it, I plug it in to the Dot 3 and use the power cord that came with dot to run it. Music has been playing in the pool for hours as well as in the front and back yards as we do yard work. I find it works well as long as it connects to my wifi! When I originally bought it, I was planning to let my wife take it outside while she's swimming and listen to her Sirius stations. After a while I realized both Alexa and other devices can be used as intercoms, so she can now use it to ask for a drink from me. So when I discovered that there is an app that controls the hot tub/spa, I had to teach my daughter how to turn it on/off, adjust the temperature, and turn the jets on/off with Alexa. It does so many things that I would have called it "rocking" but in fact it accomplishes.

It is plugged into the audio jack on the side of my stereo so that I can power it as well as use the Echo Dot. It is my intention to do the same with this battery pack so it will be charged constantly if you unplug it.
