I previously owned a battery base for my Echo Dot that began humming after about 11 months of use (from the battery base). When I used the online form to let them know about the problem, they sent me a new D3 unit that has been working fine.
I was so impressed with their customer service that I ordered my Echo Show 5 from them again. It allows me to angle the Show 5 so that I can read it easier since it sits above my computer monitor most of the time. The USB power port can be beneficial to charge my smart phone, but I've only used it when the base is plugged into power. I really love how the Show 5 can be moved around, and the base has a good enough battery life that I am able to take it with me to the back patio or garage.
