It is not hard to find reviews of how terrible the SonicStage system Then you have no reason to It was the best music system ever made. The ATRAC system was integrated into SoundStage. There is a vast difference between MP3 and WMA in terms of sound quality and compression ratios. Sony's proprietary method of putting the music on the Walkman device, although not horrible in and of itself, had the effect of disrupting the flow between Walkman and the walkman device. CD owners can easily transfer their music to ATRAC also if you purchase all of your music from iTunes and try to transfer to ATRAC there could be a problem. If you have music on your computer from the Apple store and you want to transfer to ATRAC that could be a problem. SonicStage ATRAC has been my music system of choice for years, and I've never experienced any trouble with it. In any event, I think ATRAC was the best sound system ever made, and it still is today. Here are some fun things to do.
I am glad Amazon calls it a player. This unit can't be used to record directly from a CD player, like previous Sony Minidisc portables. During recording, it can only be done via a computer in conjunction with a computer initiating the In my case, I have a Hifi component Minidisc recorder which I can use for recording. Even more troubling is that the first unit that I acquired of this model failed at once. After powering up,the device played a disc, but did not start, and made a mechanical noise as it was trying to spin. Rather than going to an Amazon marketplace merchant, I decided to return the product to Sony. Be sure not to make the same mistake as me. In exchange, Sony gave me a reconditioned (not new) unit, even though I never saw a second of the original player. I have a Sony recorder that plays just fine. However, the computer CD I have is fogged up There is some damage to the CD-ROM software supplied (I do not know if I will be able to use it since I have a MAC and this software can only be used on PCs). Music industry power plays involving the phasing out of Minidisc players that can directly copy from a CD player could be a method of gaining control over how, or if, music can be copied to It was only because I have an extensive existing collection of homemade Minidisc tapes that prompted me to purchase this unit. The best advice I would give newcomers is to buy a portable CD player instead of a Minidisc player.
After we bought this device as a gift, we found that upon opening it, it did not work. When we asked about return or replacement, the one line reply that we had to wait another 30 days to do so. I did not receive any technical support or an apology that it did not work.
In the past, I have downloaded my music to a computer or a mp3 player. There is no way to do it with the software. Sorry about that. I am very disappointed. At least I was able to listen to music that we recorded years ago.
We played a used mini disc we found at another sale and it was The vendor was great. I will definitely purchase from them again.
I am very happy with yours.
