Questions & Answers

Besides the accessories, you mentioned that the package includes everything. Would you mean the zoom accessory pack for the iPhone 2N? Thanks so much. ?

It includes an SD card, a fome wind cover, a tabletop stand, microphone adapter for microphone stands, batteries, a USB cable, and an AV cable.

What kind of sound quality would you get for podcasts and ?

The sound quality will be a lot better if you attach a 2nd mic to filter background noise. It's Ok on its own, but when there is a lot of background noise it will pick that up, so just don't podcast where there is a lot of noise.

Obviously, you may think this is a silly question, but I'll be video taping using a camera while using this Zoom H2n to record video. Is there any way to sync the 2 together and can I expect a perfectly synched ?

Posting this requires a few steps. You can select from several different * 1) Use an audio/video synchronization application. It's not hard to use Red Giant's Plural Eyes 4, which I use. 2) Use the video editing app that comes with your video editing software to edit your videos. can do this sync, but not as effectively as Plural Eyes *br>3) When recording your clips clap at the beginning of each one. When you play them back, sync the clips manually at the beginning where you see the large peak. *br>

This device should have come with an AC power adapter so that you wouldn't have to use Does that really apply to batteries, or just batteries in general?

Batteries are the only way I've ever used it. My Zoom H2n Portable Recorder did include an AC power adapter I purchased the Zoom Accessory Pack to go with it. You can purchase it at Amazon for 29 dollars.

The quality and value of this product are excellent
5/5

My favorite thing about it is the portability! This is what I use for 80-percent of my projects About 90% of my recordings are now on the H1n recorder (I also own the Sony recorder). In contrast to the H1n, it is capable of recording surround sound, which makes it superior to the former. This step up from the H2n is twice as expensive as the H2n, although this is a worthy upgrade. There are three kinds of H4's the H4, H5, and H6. These have different uses than the H2n, allowing for more complex mixing. In general, I think the H2n provides a nice balance between cost, features, and audio quality, and I will likely purchase it again in the future. My review of this product was not reimbursed. I purchased it privately and am not affiliated with the manufacturer. By clicking the appropriate button below, you can let me know whether this review has been helpful. I appreciate it!.

Please use the following general guidelines All of them are excellent, but this one is the best
4/5

*UPDATE*- I sold this for an H4N. Their H1N test came back positive. This was the best of the two, but I found it to be more suitable This is something I should never have sold. Here is what I like best Please let me know how you are Demos can be recorded so you can see what the screen looks like. - You don't need to take a stand Let's sit it in front of us. I hate it. I think you should be content with what you already have. I/*I/* I /B/B/B/ My experience with this audio interface is that it has about a 12ms round trip time Latency across the trip (5ms in). It works well for scribbling down ideas when you use Direct Monitor while laying down tracks AND you configure Reaper to adjust based on reported latency. Likewise, I have used it to record videos, used cheap $20 lavs with it, and carried it around in my back pocket. Whenever I record rehearsals with it, it works well. Recording shows with it requires plugging it into a mixer. A recording of my son's singing is made. There's no doubt this program is exceptional at what it does. I have an idea that you might find interesting. Having the video camera set up in one place and the H2n close to the source is the best plan. It was this way that I recorded Xmas morning In order to get audio, we just moved the H2n around to get the camera in the corner. post-production, and you have a super boring Xmas video that sounds good, but costs way too much. This is *br*br*br. You don't need to know this unless you're an idiot. It takes me a lot of effort to cope with the realization that the red light on top is not actually There's a red light, and I think, "Hey, I can see it's recording!". I love it. Having the biggest, brightest, reddest light is not the record. It is really really really horrible that it isn't Blue is also an option. I would not have been as stupid if I were capable. Still, I'm making the same mistake over and over again after a year. Although I think I'm recording, I'm actually not because I'm thinking about 1000 other things at the moment. In general, this is something that I only do when playing a show or during rehearsal when I am completely focused on what I am doing. It stinks when SD cards are inserted into the SD card slot. If I were you, I would never open a cable for transfers. You get an insane amount of recording time with a 16GB card. In fact, I use my H2n as my music archive. All my information is on it now, so I always know where it is. There was an attempt I made to tape over the light but it is angled at a strange angle so that didn't work. Overlapping it with paint is a good idea. Yeah, I agree. Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to.

There are a lot of problems that this recorder solves
5/5

I am absolutely in love with this little device. The thing came out half a decade ago but despite huge advances in other areas (smartphones, computers, etc. ) it still does hold its own and is a product that will serve you well for many I like to think of this thing as a Swiss army knife for all kinds of In addition to being able to record high quality tracks directly on the unit, you can have these tracks exported to your favorite DAW (digital audio workstation) for further processing, use it as a fun little USB mic, and even use it as an audio interface with stereo inputs. It's possible to configure your mic in a number of ways. The system can be configured for both X/Y and midrange With the turn of a dial, you can easily adjust the two side channels and the four channel channels. You know which side (or sides) of the microphone is active by a pair of LED lights. These same lights illuminate as soon as the signal is clipping, which is a great visual indication that something is wrong. Additionally, the unit can be mounted on a tripod or you can buy a very affordable microphone stand adapter for around $10, allowing you to mount it on a mic stand (if you would like the handle, too). A speaker on board allows you to listen back to recorded material and you can plug in headphones to the line out if you wish. Although the onboard speaker is terrible, what else would you expect from a recording device? It's not a boombox. Also, you can connect a remote, which you can create WAV markers with. The reason I like this is because it allows you to easily navigate through your recordings with a DAW that supports it. The auto-renewal feature is one of the most useful, but there are other options as well. In addition to gain (to help reduce clipping), a compressor/limiter, a low cut filter, and a few other options, you can do a lot with it. With these batteries, this unit operates on a pair of AA batteries and if you consider the quality of the recordings, the batteries last an incredibly long time. It is stated that Zoom can run continuously for about 20 hours, which I find to be a bit optimistic. However, it works great even at around 15 - 20 hours. On the device, the interface is quite attractive. It has a backlit LED screen and navigation is easy with a selector switch that can be moved up or down or pressed in to select a menu item. After a short learning curve, I was up and running in no time. The recorder uses a single SD card for storage, although it supports up to 32 GB, which is ample for me. It's 44 when I record. The audio is 1 kHz / 24 bit (for this kind of thing, anything higher is overkill) and I usually get about 33 minutes with a 32GB SD card. It takes about five hours to record five hours of audio. The CD quality is 44 if you record at it. The maximum setting of 96 kHz / 24 bit will get you over 15 hours of recording time 128 kbps (asserted to be CD quality, but debatable) gives you over 550 hours. 256 kbps will give you half that much. This device is primarily used for recording rehearsals and demos with my band. I had a hard time recording rehearsals in the past either I would use my smartphone, which would result in poor recordings, or I would use a laptop, dedicated recording interface, and microphones, which gave me better recordings but wasn't as convenient moving them around to every show. Plus, there are so many wires, cables, and other things that clutter up my desk. Adding a computer to the mix inevitably introduces glitches and other problems. But with the H2n all my issues have been solved, all I have to do is mount the device, hit record, and I know I will be able to record noise-free recordings every time. main issue is that it only has one universal gain knob - it would be nice to have a separate gain knob for each mic side. The only disappointment is that there is no USB cable in the box (my H6 did). I have plenty of USB cables lying around but including one in the box would have been a good idea for many There is a feeling of cheapness about it It is plastic-ish, but so far I haven't had any issues with durability, though I'm happy not to have For best results you need to mount it on something, which might be a tripod or microphone stand (with the adapter not included). Recording while handling the device introduces a lot of noise, but I suppose that's just the nature of the device. This is a five-star product. It doesn't mean I love it in every way, but I love it in every aspect! My favorite aspect of this thing is that I love how it looks. I really like this app because it is so useful and has so many great features I have a powerful device that fits in my pocket and is rich with features.

One should not be missing from the luggage of a traveling musician/songwriter
5/5

I think this might be the most useful and impressive piece of equipment I have ever purchased for the money. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a compact recorder that is easy to use and gives great results. As well as using it stand-alone to capture musical ideas, I also use it as an audio interface/mic(s) with my laptop into a digital recording system. Aside from that, auto-pivoting has its own advantages In addition to Level and Compressor/Limiter, these work great.
