Upon closer inspection, it is discovered that the provided microphone is actually a 4-conductor mic when the input port is intended for 3-conductor mics only. You will not be provided with an adapter. This has disappointed me greatly.

I highly recommend it! In this case, there were no technical issues that I was bothered by. Since I am not a 'techie', products like this can be frustrating for me. I discovered the directions are great, the functions and the navigation through them is easy and a lot of fun, the sound quality is fantastic, and the size is just right! I like the simplicity of this recorder, but the microphone that comes with it is very bad. The audio was just a test, and I'm glad to know that it was just a test because I was unable to hear anything when I listened to the audio again. When I tested the built-in mic, it worked fine, but I could only hear white noise when I used the external microphone. As opposed to trying to get a deal I wish I'd just bought the recorder and then a mic separately.

With the price, the quality is hard to beat. There has always been great product quality from Sony. It was bought on a whim by my husband after strange things started occurring in our house (we are skeptics and very rational people) so it was a whim purchase. In fact, he tested this right away after getting it, and we caught a class A EVP right away. Regardless of what you think about this product, it captured something that can't be explained.

In my house, I had a speaker placed in a room and no matter what was said, I could hear it. It could even pick up cell phone calls. I had no idea that would happen! Having a long battery life and using the device easily is very convenient.

That's exactly what I wanted, thank you so much. As part of my running routine, I needed an MP3 player. My only problem was that iPods are way too expensive and I was worried that I would be required to make certain upgrades just to download music I already owned. This Sony player caught my eye so I decided to gamble. It would probably connect to my computer via a 1/8' cable, and I knew it could record songs. I already owned a cheaper model of this device. There was a USB port on this one, but I wasn't sure that my computer would recognize The computer on which I am working is an old Mac, possibly High Sierra. I'm not sure why it worked, but it did! My songs were all stored on itunes, so I simply dragged and dropped them into the Sony player. It is not possible to copy over some songs. The song file appears to have some code in it that limits file sharing, perhaps added by iTunes or the record company. In most cases, they were restricted to just a few major performers. It isn't clear what would happen on Windows or a different Mac operating system, or even if I used a different iTunes version (mine was old and out-of-date In fact, I would probably be able to get decent song files if I recorded 1/8" cable style, for any songs that don't Additionally, the sonic quality of the album is excellent.
