Questions & Answers

When you connect it to a computer, does it type what you record?

There is no type function on the device; it only records voice.

Is it possible to use an external microphone with it?

Yes, a microphone can be plugged into the input.

Could this be set up to start and stop recording using an audio line in and then send the signal to a different output? Are you essentially in line?

When something is heard on the microphone input, the recorder can be set to automatically record. I haven't tried it with the phone line, but it should work. Anything that enters the recorder, whether it's a line or a microphone, is echoed out on the headphone jack, so it's essentially line in, line out.

Is it possible to charge this device in Italy using only an adapter?

It comes with a standard micro USB charging cable, allowing you to charge it anywhere that has a USB port, such as your computer, power bank, or USB wall charger adapter.

Selected User Reviews For EVISTR V508 32gb Digital Voice Recorder for Lectures Meetings - Portable Recording Devices with Playback, Line-in, Password, USB Rechargeable

Stereo Line In and a brief lag after pressing record; for a small, inexpensive recorder, it has performed admirably thus far
4/5

Here are the things that are important to me. br>There is a stereo jack on the line-in jack. There is a menu option to choose between "line-in" and "microphone. " In microphone mode, it appears to record both the local microphone and the external microphone, but only in mono for the latter. br>You can listen and record at the same time, which is a huge plus in my book. You can charge and record at the same time. br>It has a good form factor. The buttons and menu are simple to use. br>The only flaw so far is that there is a 1-minute time limit. There is a two-second delay between pressing the record button and the recording actually beginning. If you want immediate recording, be prepared for a short delay. br>For the price I paid for this device, I'm very pleased so far.

It's ideal for lectures and meetings

First, the bad news and why it didn't get five stars. The manuals for this model of recorder are still difficult to understand - This one, however, is the worst, and unlike their other recorders, you don't have the option of going online and downloading a more comprehensive manual. Not only is it difficult to read, but it also appears to be incorrect in at least a few functions. It's fine for assistance with the fundamentals, but not for more complicated operations like repeating a segment of a recording. You'll have to figure it out on your own for this. br>br>And now for the good news. This recorder has the best menu system of any of them - By pressing the menu key and then scrolling through the menu, you can access the majority of the recorder's features - There are no distracting graphics; instead, there is clear text and logical submenus. br>br>The recorder can be woken up by pressing almost any key. The Play key initiates playback of the most recent recording. The Record key causes the recorder to begin recording in the last format selected - There are three of them: MP3 (High), MP3 (Medium), MP3 (High), MP3 ( These can be found in the Record submenus. br>br>One feature I wish this recorder had is the ability to adjust the recording level - An automatic gain control is used to set the volume. These can be troublesome, but in this recorder, they work flawlessly. There isn't much 'breathing' in the quiet spots, and louder speech doesn't produce a noticeable 'clamping' effect; however, it appears to work well for class lectures or meetings. br>br>This recorder has a RESET button on one side, which I had to use once when the recorder wouldn't respond to any keystrokes. br>br>Even at the highest recording resolution, the unit's built-in 16GB storage will allow it to record for several hours. A TF card (micro SD card) can be used for external storage. Although the documentation specifies 16, 32, and 64 GB, I had no problems using a 4GB and an 8GB card. You can choose which memory you want to record to, but the process is not very intuitive. You might want to do this if you want to share a recording with another party - This can be accomplished by recording to a TF card and then sharing the file. br>br>I was blown away by the recorder's size and weight. My personal best times didn't quite reach the claimed 70 hours, but they were more than enough for a week of college classes. Also, I did a lot of experimenting with the menu, which keeps the LCD's backlight on, which consumes about the same amount of power as the rest of the recorder. In any case, if you're going to record a crucial meeting or lecture, I'd charge it up ahead of time - it only takes a few minutes. that's one less thing to be concerned about br>br>I attempted several recordings of live musical events, but the built-in microphones are designed for speech, not instruments. Also, the AGC isn't the best choice for quiet passages. Even so, if this is all you have to record an event, it's still a good start. use it. It's preferable to not have one at all. This unit has a line in function, which allows you to record sounds from your cell phone or other device with an earphone output - It even includes a short cable to connect the two devices. A USB cable is also included, which can be used to connect the recorder to a charger or a computer to download the recorded files, as well as a pair of earbuds for listening to the recordings.

This recorder has a lot of features
5/5

This device was sent to me to evaluate and compare to an EVISTR recorder I had previously received. The first thing I noticed was that the user instructions had improved. The instructions for the other recorder were written in a small, difficult-to-read handwritten book. I read the manual, and it wasn't a very clear translation from Chinese, as I assumed. The instructions for this recorder are printed on a large fold-out sheet of paper. clear graphics on the back sheet You can still tell they're translated, but they're a lot easier to understand. br>The recorder itself is small but sturdy. The controls are simple and straightforward to use, and it would be simple to conceal the device in order to record it. It worked fine in my shirt pocket, and the voice recordings have excellent sound quality. As you'd expect from a device this small, music recorded with the line-in function didn't sound as good when played back from the recorder. The included ear buds were a significant upgrade, and I imagine that a better set would sound even better. The clip that comes with the package It was simple to use the microphone. br>Activated Voice Recording worked well and did not seem to trigger with unwanted sounds when set to a mid-level sensitivity. If additional memory is required, a TF card (microSD) can be added. br>While there is no way to rename recordings on the device, they can be easily transferred to a computer and renamed there. There is an option to transfer music files in mp3 format to the device, and the names will be transferred as well. This does not appear to be a frequently used feature. Overall, this was a substantial improvement over the L53 recorder - Smaller and easier to use, with more internal memory and the option to add microSD memory.
