A technicians license (Ham) is required I bought my scanner specifically to use as a scanner, so I disabled the transmit PTT button (simple mod). I mostly use the radio function to listen to local emergency services and NOAA frequencies, so I programmed it to those The little radio is very nice
A grade of 100-plus was provided to me An AC charger that runs at 240 volts. The cord is equipped with a U.S. plug.
Telephones in the switched network are part of the 911 emergency service. Keeping in mind that a cell phone is a radio that communicates with the switched telephone network, you can use it to call 911. The answer is If you're asking how we communicate with 911 callers, like police and firefighters, we say A lot depends on it. It would be illegal for responders to use the Baofeng's frequency range on which they transmit and receive. It seems that the vast majority of the responders have switched over to a system called trunked radios, which is like a private cellular system, and the Baofeng wouldn't be able to communicate with it.
In order to reduce costs, I would purchase an inexpensive transformer unit that converts 220 Volts to 110 Volts and includes hookup cables I send the transformer unit with my 110-volt electric shaver to overseas when the voltage there is 220 V. If I am overseas, I use the transformer unit with the 220-volt electric shaver.

Even with rolling hills blocking the signal, I was still able to get 12 miles of range with Crystal Clear. With the standard antenna, both send and receive can be done. Now that I have the whips, I have an 18in whip for them. I have only tested them up until my 12 mile test. To be honest, I was only testing them by radioing my Dad from my house. With an elevation difference of 800ft, this distance is 12 miles away. This is a great radio for the price. It is lightweight and lasts for a long time on a single charge. When I use the factory batteries, I get about ten hours of use. Using the extended life batteries for about 19 to 20 hours gives me plenty of use time. This is a great radio for the price.
I find it really frustrating that it is locked at a minimum of 150MHz on a radio that advertises its ability to run as low as 136MHz. The software or cables do not need to be purchased separately. As I was about to embark on a trip with it, I was surprised to find that it doesn't even work at.
I could listen to the happenings in my neighborhood with this device. It is not only possible to hear that, but also to listen to radios. You don't have to rush through the setup process, but you can watch some videos if you need to. Please make sure the municipality where you live does not encrypt their transmissions before ordering, otherwise you will not be able to use the service. Many days of listening are required to charge the device. This device would be a good choice for people who want to listen to scanners or radios.
Over the past 30 years, I have held an amateur radio license. As far as value goes, this is one of the best ones I've bought so far. For the price you can take it anywhere and not have to worry about it getting stolen, getting wet, falling from a high place or any other hazards. Not because it's robust (which it isn't) but the cost of replacing it. I found the radio to work well, provided it had clear audio, and the range was adequate. It also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of antennas. At this point, I have at least eight of these. I keep it in my car, in my office, in my truck, in my go bag, etc. Prior to buying this I used a Kenwood and while it does not compare to the clarity or range of my old handheld, it has a better battery life. In general, if you are not a licensed amateur, it is illegal to transmit over this radio (large fine may apply). As such, if you want to just listen, you are welcome, but if you want to talk on these frequencies, you need to study and pay the few dollars needed to obtain a license. There are test questions available on the Internet. You can try your hand with this economical first rig for a little while.
Upon receiving the two units, one of them had a malfunctioning speaker right from the box. I had to immediately replace it. I enjoyed dealing with the seller and the exchange went well. In my opinion, the antennas that come with the phones are not that great, and I would recommend upgrading them. They are nice units, but one unit broke and the antennas were subpar, so I am deducting one star from their rating.
As published in the advertisement, the radio has a 136-watt amplifier There were 174 400 people on board The 480Mhz transceiver is available for purchase. There are restrictions on its transmission, however it will not operate below 150 MHz. In other words, if you want to use it on the ham 2 meter band (144 to 148 MHz), you are out of luck. In the past, I did not experience such a problem with a UV-light I own a couple of 5Rs that I bought The only problem is that the transceiver is totally useless as a ham 2 meter portable. So, all you need to do if you only want to listen (not transmit) is to turn on the microphone.
For the last ten years, I've bought four Baofeng radios. I am very happy with how everything worked. I have a Yaesu FT-1000 and all of the open repeaters are on it An antenna with Diamond cannot be used on the 60. We bought this one for a brand-new It would not transmit on 2 meters out of the box. In Chirp, I opened the radio and the TX range on 2m was set to 150MHz-160MHz everything else is set up in the manual. 170. 000 MHz. It's an easy fix once you find it out. I docked a star for the 20 minutes I spent being frustrated. I love it!.
