Questions & Answers

Is it an alternating current or a direct current?

Yes. both.

Is it possible to make mixtapes with this (does it connect to a CD/cassette player)?

It has a "monitor" and "mic" plug, which functions as your "in" and "out" respectively. " As long as you have the proper cords and an audio out on your CD or cassette player, you should be fine. It allows me to create mixtapes directly from my computer.

I'm looking for a device that will allow me to listen to my old cassette tapes. Is this something that will help you with that?

Yes - That's why I bought the Panasonic Recorder/Player in the first place - to listen to tapes that haven't been played in a while My old Sony player was broken, but this one works great (as long as your cassettes are in good shape).

Is there a wall plug included in the package? Which is better: in or adapter?

The power cord is included.

I suppose if we enjoy wasting money on frivolous purchases. After 8 months of use, it was no longer functional. I'm just listening to books on tape. I'm not going to buy another one of these. Perhaps the low-cost option is preferable. I'm willing to pay $20 for a year's worth of service. However, it cost $200 and lasted only eight months. Don't waste your money on this one.

Working Man's Recorder is a type of tape recorder that is used by working people
5/5

For the past 25 years, I've used small handheld microcassette and "chip" recorders before returning to this "clunky" tabletop model. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank It's a little bulky, but it records beautifully, sits firmly on a table, and you don't have to touch anything except the record button. The precise cueing and quiet drive mechanism are the most appealing features. After retiring as a journalist/reporter, I'm doing some freelance interviewing, and this device makes transcription a breeze. It isn't cheap, but then again, neither is the Canon camera I use for head shots.

With enough volume, a basic natural analog playback sound is produced
4/5

I ordered one of these products in the fall of 2012, and then ordered another as a backup a few weeks later. Compared to the smaller Sony cassette recorder, this recorder produces a fuller, more detailed, and natural sound. It can be powered by battery or AC, but the sound quality on battery is slightly better. Batteries have a long life span-- In comparison to the Sony, it takes a little longer. I purchased a good-quality item. Pyle is a high-quality but low-cost brand. It works well with the Pro PDMIC58 Professional Moving Coil Dynamic Handheld Microphone (Amazon), but you must purchase the adapter plug separately (Amazon has it). The only drawback, as mentioned in another review, is that headphones playback is limited to one channel. If I want to hear it in both ears, I need to remove the cassette and play it back through the smaller Sony recorder, which works well for this purpose, though the Panasonic's recording quality and playback through the unit's own speaker are superior. br>br>When I first got the Panasonic, I noticed that when I held the button down to fast forward or reverse, it made a loud high-pitched noise. I usually tried to muffle the sound by putting my hand over the speaker, but it didn't work. After pressing the record button, the unit has been failing to record more frequently recently. I pulled out my spare and was surprised to find that when fast forwarding or reversing the tape while holding down the button, it didn't make the loud noise, sparing my ears. This leads me to believe that the first unit had a problem in that area-- The mechanism was out of alignment or something, and as a result, it was unable to record. So far, the second unit has performed admirably, and I've placed an order for a third unit as a backup. br>br>By the way, if you're looking for a quick fix, Compared to a high-quality stereo digital recorder that costs several hundred dollars and requires playback through a computer and speaker system for anything other than tiny tinny sound, the Panasonic cassette player produces a louder, fuller, more natural sound and allows immediate playback. (I'll have to see if I can plug headphones directly into those tiny digital recorders because I didn't have any when I first looked into them. ) Zoom recorders (at least the Zoom Handy H2 recorder) work fine with headphones plugged in.

It's useful for recording and replaying whatever you've said
4/5

This device is a beautiful, sturdy machine that can be used at a desk or on the go and will provide you with years of recording and playback enjoyment. The one I got had clearly been gently used by a college student, as it still had a tape with a lecture on human gut biology on it. Both the spoken word and the music played back are of high quality. Recording is better suited to things like lectures than musical performances, but if you're in a hurry, you can always plug in a line in and record. If you absolutely must transfer digital sound (ex. This machine will record audio from a computer to tape, but don't expect studio-quality sound. br>br>If your professor is okay with it and you're a slacker, you could definitely get some long play tapes and record entire lectures with this, which I prefer to my shorthand notes, and go over them with a fine tooth comb later.

This is a fantastic cassette recorder
5/5

My sister turned 61 years old, and her old cassette recorder stopped working. She has dozens of cassettes stashed in shoe boxes that she enjoys listening to, and she was devastated when she learned that cassette recorders and players were no longer manufactured. I knew how important those cassettes were to her because she lives alone and is disabled, so I went on a massive search to find one for her, and I ended up at Amazon, as I usually do. I gave it to my sister along with a brick of Sony tapes, and she was overjoyed to the point of tears. She claimed it was the best gift she had ever received. She didn't even want to go out to dinner as I had planned because she immediately set it up and began playing with it. I finally got her out the door, but she insisted on using her recorder when we got back. We started singing some old songs into the recorder from about 4 or 5 feet away because I had brought my guitar with me. She couldn't seem to keep her emotions in check. The recorder did an excellent job of picking up all of our voices as well as the guitar. She loved it because it had good sound and no squeals. This Panasonic Cassette Recorder is well worth the money in my opinion, and I'm going to buy another one just in case they stop producing them.

The sound quality of vintage tape recorders is superior to that of modern tape recorders! When I first ordered this recorder, it didn't come with a cord, but the seller was very nice and apologized, and promptly sent me a replacement, no hassle, no fuss
5/5

The recorder has exceeded my expectations. I replaced it with a new one for $60, but the voice is barely audible due to the mic's poor performance. I needed this to record my office meetings, and while it was a little more expensive, the voice quality is clear and audible! If you need a tape recorder for high-quality playback, I would strongly suggest this recorder and seller.
