Windows decides whether you want mono (in "both" channels) or stereo (in "both" channels). Open Control Panel, Sound, select your input, and tell Windows to use 44 when the deck is connected via USB. A sampling rate of 1kHz is used to create a 16-bit image. 2 channels of bits (USB has one channel by default, but you can change it here.)
Unfortunately, the seek function is not available on this model of tape deck. That's a feature I've seen on Sony tape decks. If you want to buy a used Sony tape deck, go to a Goodwill or Salvation Army store. Mary, I wish you luck.
The dimensions are 17" wide, 10 3/4" deep, and 5 3/4" tall (including the air space of the circular coasters).
This tape deck cannot be used with speakers without an amplifier. This is a component in a system of components.

I've probably bought a thousand things on Amazon, and while I'm not always happy with my purchases, I can live with them. I've never written a review before, but I have to say that this is the worst purchase I've ever made. I've read rave reviews about how good the sound is, but I've never heard anything! Why? Because the user instructions for this product are the worst I've ever seen in my 62 years of shopping. There is no video, and it can be found (ANYWHERE) on YouTube, on the product's website, and on Amazon. I even called for help, and the only customer service they could muster was "You just have to download Audacity. " " Really? How? Other than the useless information in the packing box, show me a video or instructions. When I use the connections provided, why does it not appear on my computer? I went to Best Buy and other IT support shops, but they couldn't figure it out either. In my professional career, I've worked with computers and installed MANY programs, but not this one. You've got to be kidding me, Amazon. Don't even think about selling this useless item.
I'm not sure how the music on this piece of garbage sounds because I never got that far with it. We pressed the tape decks' eject buttons, but neither of the doors opened properly. Both of them were crooked and didn't open or close properly. It was immediately returned to the box it came in. It's difficult to come by a tape deck these days; most manufacturers have stopped producing them, but this one is a dud.
This was purchased in order to digitize my large tape collection. Following the discovery that after ten years of non-compliance, My Sony and Technics decks from the 1990s didn't work anymore. There don't appear to be any major issues, and everything appears to be in working order. The grade for the item is A-. deck played tapes at 150% speed of 150% speed of 150% speed of 150% speed I wanted to say hello- The speed dubbing button was possibly stuck, but that wasn't the problem. I tried about five or six different cassettes, but they all had the same problem. Both A and B are correct. Decks had a bad habit of coming to a halt in the middle of a round. Also, play on a few tapes. I had hoped to work with the faster speed by simply slowing the recording in Audacity, but the fast speed was so inconsistent that it would have been too much work. Audio setup is not intuitive for those who are new to audio software, and switching audio settings back and forth between recording and editing can be tedious even for experienced users - esp. if you have additional equipment that has its own settings The rewind and fast forward buttons are spongy, and the FF and fast forward buttons are noisy. This is something I do not recommend.
I have honestly used this cassette deck maybe 10 times since I bought it. I used it two days ago, and I went to use it again today because my cable was down, and the cable company refused to fix it. I was attempting to resolve the problem when the cassette deck refused to turn on. I'm extremely dissatisfied with this cassette player, and I've never had an electronic device fail after only two years of use. I would not recommend this tape deck to anyone because it simply will not last. br>My previous tape deck was a Technics model that lasted a little over 15 years with heavy use.
I had no intention of transferring my tapes to my computer because all of the songs were already available as digital downloads on the internet, and besides, my old tapes were all recorded on standard cassette tapes and were only of passable quality to begin with. br>This deck provided me with all of the features I required at a very reasonable price; I do not claim to be an expert audiophile; rather, I am a regular music listener. br>I connected my phone to the Line-in inputs on the back and listened to songs from my mp3 collection, which I had recorded on tape using Chrome new tapes of excellent quality. This deck was great because it could playback and record chrome tapes. Because it's easy to overload the inputs, resulting in severe distortion of the recorded sound, the sound recording level, which can be adjusted using a rotary knob on the front, must be used with extreme caution. After all was said and done, I had a mixed tape of some of my favorite songs, something I hadn't done in probably over 25 years! Having some geeky fun: )br>There are a few things to keep in mind: The deck is of low quality, which shows, but it functions properly. There is no such thing as an auto- It's inconvenient, but you can get used to it. Although there is no Dolby noise reduction, the quality of the recorded sound did not seem to suffer as a result. Because there is no headphone jack, which is a rare omission, I had to use the Line-out jacks to connect a headphones amplifier. I also had no problems using powered speakers, and you can't hear the input sound while it's being recorded, which is a minor annoyance. br>In the end, despite the aforementioned flaws, I am satisfied with this deck, at least for my specific requirements. I haven't tried the USB transfer method, so I can't comment on it.
I will never buy another pile product again because of the lack of instructions and the fact that the website is not at all helpful.
