I bought it months ago and never used it because it didn't work. I was able to receive calls but not send them. I attempted to contact support, but they were useless!
Not the air or the air 2, but the regular Telo.
The base, on the other hand, connects to your internet router. Each phone then connects to the base via WIFI and/or can be plugged into the base with any phone.
Hello,br>br>Yes, you can transfer your number from Ooma to another provider.

To use as our home phone, I bought the Telo and three handsets. For the past 35 years, we've used the same phone number. The setup was simple, and the sound quality was excellent. Our home number was rejected when I tried to port it from Straighttalk to ooma. I received an email from ooma porting informing me that I needed to contact Straighttalk to resolve the problem. That was done by me. The port was resubmitted and was once again rejected. I received a second email from ooma informing me that I needed to contact Straighttalk to resolve the issue. Straighttalk's porting department wanted to contact ooma's porting department to resolve the issue when I called them. I didn't have a phone number for the porting department, so I looked on ooma's website for one, and when that didn't work, I tried the online chat. That number, I've been told, isn't given out. Straighttalk had provided me with a phone number and a reference number, which I gave to ooma. They don't make those calls, according to the email I received. Ooma informed me that the port had failed after sending me more emails explaining what I needed to do and what they would not do, as well as more phone calls to Straighttalk. I received return authorization just as my Amazon return window was about to close. When I called ooma to deactivate my telo, they offered to immediately port my number. I told them they didn't have time because the telo and handsets were being returned to Amazon. They then offered me two free months of service, despite the fact that I doubt I'll use the one year of premium service I paid for. The number would have been ported on the first or second try if ooma's porting department had worked as hard to keep me from leaving as customer service did to keep me from leaving.
Handsets. NO! Because getting the Telo base unit connected and working takes a long time, you'll need to be patient while it goes through the login and connect cycle. Once it's set up and connected, the device performs admirably and produces excellent sound. The handsets, on the other hand, are an entirely different story. They aren't very customizable, and I wish I had gone with a third-party wireless handset group instead of Ooma's. They do not appeal to me. at all.
I've been using the Ooma system for a long time and needed to replace my 8-year-old Telo, so I bought the newer Telo with three (3) HD3 handsets and a single HD3 handset for a total of four (4) handsets. We had issues with call sound quality right out of the box, with some handsets failing to ring when incoming calls came in. Because they are designed for two lines, neither you nor they have a way to turn off the second line, which means that if a second call comes in while you are on a call, the other handsets will ring. If you answer the second call, the handset appears to switch to and stay on the second line, so it does not ring if a call comes in on the primary number until you switch it to line 1. Because there are two lines, if your wife is on one handset and you want to join the call on the other, you'll have to press multiple buttons. If you're having trouble with your phone, Supports recommends removing the batteries for a few seconds to force the phone to reboot. This usually solves the problem, but after a few weeks, they'd start acting up again, requiring me to reboot the handset(s). If that doesn't work, they'll ask you to reboot the Telo. br>br>Recently, all four (4) handsets began performing a software upgrade and then sat there doing nothing. I contacted customer service, who informed me that I needed to reboot the Telo. Please keep in mind that a Telo takes about 5 minutes to boot up. The only way I could get the HD3's to upgrade one at a time in a cradle as close to the Telo as possible once the Telo rebooted was to put them in a cradle as close to the Telo as possible. Please keep in mind that your phone system was down the entire time the handsets were 'waiting to upgrade' and the Telo was rebooting. You don't seem to have any say in when software upgrades are performed, as far as I can tell. br>br>Like I said, I've been an Ooma customer for a long time, and because you only need to reboot the Telo once in a while, I'm fine with the service and the Telo boot times (which they should improve), but I can't recommend the HD3 handsets until they improve the sound quality, fix the software upgrade problems, and give the user the ability to disable the second line. My wife has been nagging me to get rid of the HD3s and replace them with a traditional wireless phone system.
Setting up a new unit is a breeze thanks to the user-friendly interface. Ooma allows you to choose your own phone number (with your own area code) - However, you can have your existing phone number ported to Ooma to replace the one you chose. (There is a $40 fee for porting. ) )br>br>The unit has an integrated voice mail system that sends notifications (along with a recording) of messages received to a specified email address. The three portable phones included in this package were also simple to set up and operate. You can even receive voicemail notifications, which you can listen to on your phone. br>br>Amazingly, there is no charge for this service on a monthly basis - You only have to pay a total of $6 in federal and state taxes. Monthly payments of 00! The cost of the device and porting your current phone number to Ooma will be quickly recouped in monthly land-line bill savings - You'll also have access to a lot more features. This is a "no-brainer" as long as you have a good internet connection.
I attempted to obtain assistance through a chat session. After a while, the person gave up and directed me to a helpline. After a lot of back-and-forth, the person was supposed to call back in five minutes, while I tried (and failed) to dial out. The tech support representative (who spoke with a foreign accent that I couldn't understand) never returned my call. I have a non-functioning system and am charged the tax every month. I'll most likely try again when I have the time to spend hours on the phone with tech support.
