I've had my Magicjack Go for a number of years and I adore it, with one exception: If the USB connector is bent or broken, the device is rendered useless, and you must purchase a new one. They sell the adapter that plugs into the wall outlet or the surge protector, but not the matchbook-sized unit itself, which means you'll have to buy a new one. I didn't pay attention to what I was doing when I slid the dresser back against the wall, and it completely bent over, breaking off as I tried to straighten it out. Fortunately for me, I had a spare; I had purchased one of the first models (EXPRESS) when they were on sale and was fortunate enough that it worked with my current phone number. I only had to register it, and it's been running smoothly for the past three or four months. My computer is connected to my router/modem and is on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but I turn it off when I'm done with it. People are amazed at how much I pay for my phone service. I'm going to buy another one once I've made some progress - As a precaution. That's All I'm Saying - It happens to the best of us.
The current price for a one-year renewal is $35, but there is no guarantee that this will remain the same next year. It's a little deceiving when the sales rep on the phone tells you the renewal rate is $35 for the following year. It is possible that it will cost $40.
Yes, in my case, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes The phone line from the MagicJack was directly plugged into my bedroom's wall jack. Simply disconnect the old POTS line from the street at the house. All of the phone jacks in the house are functional, and I have four phones. So far, everything has gone well.

Customer service takes a long time to respond - However, it can be found. I did, however, learn something the 'hard way. ' I had a phone provider who had installed the phone modem in the garage when I first got internet service. My phone number was ported from them to MagicJack - (which was perfect). . . When I received notification that my phone number had been ported, I exclaimed - wow! I'm able to link it now. So, after 5 hours of trying to connect because I was getting a busy signal, I finally got through. and after attempting to contact customer service for over two hours (I was eventually able to do so). When I went into my garage and saw that my original provider's modem was still lit (though no longer receiving a phone signal), I was about to give up. I turned off the modem - "It was truly magical," says one of the participants. Everything went according to plan. It was a colossal DOH! I convinced myself that I was fine because I wasn't using their service any longer. but. The other modem was still 'open,' even though there was no signal going to it, so I guess magic jack was getting confused. I'm just sharing this in the hopes of assisting others. 'If you have a separate modem, make sure you disconnect it from your original provider)! The voice and the signal are both excellent. As a result, I've come to a conclusion.
Magicjack was primarily purchased because of its low price. It'll cost you around $5 in total. 00 per month, versus $15 to $30 per month for traditional phone service. My initial impressions, however, have been mixed. br>The Positive:
1. Low cost: for the first year, the cost is approximately $5: 00 for a month From the second year on, the price may be as low as $3: 00 per month, depending on your plan selection.
2. The setup is simple and straightforwardbr>3. You can transfer your old phone number to Magic Jack for a fee – it cost me $10. 00 incl. taxbr>4. There are many useful features (unlimited calling in the US and Canada, free second conference line, and so on. )br>5. Their website is simple to navigate. br>However, there are a few things that aren't immediately apparent:
1. The 911 service is not included in the package and must be paid for separately. About $7. In North Carolina, where I live, it costs $600 for the first year, with some limitations on 911 service. br>The Bad:
1. Customer Service: Live chat is the only way to contact their customer service. There aren't any phone numbers that can be dialed. As I'll explain below, my experience chatting with them has been less than ideal.
2. If you want to port your old phone number to Magicjack, they say it could take up to ten days. You won't be able to receive incoming calls until the number porting request is completed. Only incoming calls are permitted. Number portability is, by the way, a federal law. As a result, phone companies are unable to refuse it (in most cases). br>Meanwhile, here's what I've learned. I got an e-mail today. My port request was denied by Vonage (my current provider), according to an email from Magicjack customer service. Before re-enrolling, they advised contacting Vonage to resolve the issue. When I contacted Vonage, they said there was nothing on their end that was slowing down the port, so I spoke with Magicjack, who suggested I re-submit my request. I attempted to submit a port request, but it was rejected once more. I contacted Vonage once more, and they demanded to know why the request was not being fulfilled. I attempted to communicate with Magicjack via chat once more. It abruptly dropped me and told me to try again later after I waited 20 minutes for the next agent. So, despite spending two days and two hours on this, I am still unable to receive incoming calls. I'm not sure why my port request isn't being accepted or how to fix it. The moral of the story is that There are some drawbacks to low prices. . . LOL. Once the saga is over, I'll update my review. br>Updated on February 1, 2016: After contacting Magicjack via live chat several times, I was assured that the problem would be escalated to upper management and that someone would contact me via e-mail. mail. While you're waiting for your e-mail to arrive, I received written confirmation from Vonage that they had never received a port request for my phone number from MagicJack. I received an e-mail at long last. Magicjack sent me an email stating that my phone number would be ported by February 5th, 2016. I'm hoping it goes through, but I'll believe it when I see it. As a result, the story goes on. br>Updated on November 2nd, 2016: No, it did not arrive on the promised date of 2/5/16. However, I continued to correspond with MagicJack via e-mail. mail. Following the e-mail exchange, After receiving several emails from MagicJack customer service, they stated that they are in contact with Vonage and that it will be ported by February 11th, 2016. They showed up this time. I received confirmation that the number had been ported from both Vonage and MagicJack today. I was never able to figure out what was causing the problem. Isn't it true that everything works out in the end? That's all I'm going to say about it. To be fair, I'm raising MagicJack's rating from one to three stars now that they've finally delivered. My saga comes to a close now.
I'm not sure why I waited so long to employ Magic Jack. I discovered that the home phone portion of my Windstream bundle cost me $46 per month. My wife needs a home phone number for work, and most cell signals are blocked by our metal roof. Magic Jack appeared to be too good to be true when I looked into him. The following is a timeline for switching. br>br>Wednesday - br>br> I discovered that my Windstream phone line costs $46 per month. Fridaybr>- I ordered MagicJack Go from Amazon. MagicJack Go came through with flying colors.
- I opened the package and connected MagicJack Go to an open port on my DSL modem/router according to the instructions (ethernet from MagicJack device to an open port on my DSL modem/router). From the device to my home phone base, I have a phone line.
- I went to mjreg after plugging it in. com to register my device, then created a MagicJack account and followed the on-screen instructions. I tried to port my old Windstream number, but it was "ineligible" for porting (which isn't a big deal to me because now I get to start over after getting so many solicitor calls).
- My new phone number has been chosen. You select your zip code, followed by the first three options. Your phone number's last four digits.
- My new phone number was given to me after I finished setting up the device. It only took about five minutes to get everything set up.
- My first year was added to my account automatically.
- I got an email asking me to pay my annual 911 fee ($6). br>- I made my first test call, and the audio is identical to that of my previous Windstream service; everything appears to be working fine so far. br>- I called Windstream and requested that the phone portion of my internet/phone package be cancelled.
- Will save $46 per month ($552 annually!) )
- That's all there is to it - thanks for reading! So the entire process took only 2 days and 5 minutes from purchase to switch. After my device arrived, I only had to wait ten minutes! If your phone number is eligible for porting, keep in mind that it may take several days. br>br>So far, I've been pleased with the service; I can log into my Magic Jack account and make a variety of changes. I can customize my Caller ID name, the length of time my phone rings before the voicemail message is delivered, and much more. br>br>I'll post another update in a month or two.
