Questions & Answers

After the first year, how much does it cost?

One year costs $35, three years costs $99, and five years costs $130.

Is it possible to connect this directly to my router, bypassing the need for me to turn on my computer?

That's exactly how it's supposed to work. The router is plugged into one jack, the phone into the other, and the unit is plugged into a power source after that. If you have a computer, you can use it, and if you have a phone, you can use it. It effectively doubles the number of numbers on your phone.

How does Magic Jack stack up against Ooma? What do you recommend for a dependable service and excellent customer support?

I've had MagicJack for over ten years, and I've tried several different models. It's by far the cheapest and most reliable home phone service available. I began using it in college in 2008 because I needed to fax occasionally and wanted to save money on my cell phone bill. It worked; it didn't offer any customer service support at the time, and it still doesn't; however, if you are technically savvy, you can get by with it. When I upgraded my phone and switched to a Verizon MVNO, I stopped using it about a year ago. The issue is that neither my Verizon phone nor the MagicJack were able to call each other because the calls were blocked. It's most likely due to the fact that MagicJack does not pay fees to connect public phone networks. So I got Ooma, which worked on all calls and has done so in the past. Yes, I now pay roughly twice as much, around $6-$7 per month. 7 per month, versus $45 per year for MJ, including taxes and fees. While MJ has a decent voice, Ooma has a better one. I suppose my earnings increased after I graduated from college. I recall paying $30-$40 for a pair of shoes. Just for local phone service with no extra features, you'll have to pay $40 per month. One thing that MJ does provide is a smaller package, which would be useful if anyone were traveling today.

We have two children who do not yet have cellphones, so we are not ready to give up our landline
5/5

ages 7,9. We are not ready to get rid of their landlines because they need to be able to call 911 in an emergency and have a landline for babysitters. (I understand that most teenagers have cell phones, but it provides us with some peace of mind. ) br>This is a VERY cost-effective choice. Although we mostly use our phones, having this option for $50 is well worth it. We recently downgraded our cable bundle to remove cable and were paying $110 per month for internet and landline; our bill is now $60 per month (tax) after the landline was removed from the bundle this week. So- We used to pay around $40 per month for a landline, but now we can get a year for only $50. It's simple math. This decision has made me happy.

It's not a good idea to go through with it
3/5

Instead, go with the OBI200 that includes Google Voice. Simply put, Magic Jack should be avoided at all costs. I spent days attempting, but failing, to get it to work consistently. Incoming calls would sometimes go straight to "The MagicJack customer you are calling is unavailable" instead of ringing the phone. I was able to obtain a replacement unit. I tried disabling SIP, but it didn't work. On my router, I use ALG. I port forwarded UDP ports 5060 and 5070, but it didn't work. I tried switching networks, but it didn't work. I tried it while connected to a computer's USB port, but it didn't work. I tried it with two different routers, but it did not work. There's no such thing as consistency, and there's no such thing as a I'm assuming (just guessing) that their lines are oversubscribed. As an alternative, I purchased the OBI200 with Google Voice, which worked flawlessly once I set it up properly (though the OBI200 setup was more difficult than the MagicJack).

It's working perfectly
5/5

I plugged it into my modem, and that was that. I connected my two-way radio to my computer. phone with a line I registered the magicjack online and chose my area code and a new phone number. That was the end of the conversation. I already have an internet phone through my local provider, and I was worried that installing a new cordless phone (2 handsets) in the same house (only inches apart) as my three-phone system (through my network company) would cause a conflict; I fully expected some kind of crossover, but both sets work perfectly and do not interfere with one another- They're both inexpensive. Telecommunications systems I can't tell if the quality is better or worse. The only difference I've noticed so far (nearly two months) is that I'm not getting any scammer or insurance company calls; instead, my friends are calling me on the Magicjack. The 8 to 10 scammer calls are all coming from the provider line, so I'll give it a few months before ditching the provider phone system and relying solely on the Magicjack. The price is excellent, and the quality is excellent. br>br>At this point, it's been four months since I bought the Magicjack system. I had one instance where the phone wouldn't work, and I had to unplug it from my modem to get it to work again, but it did so quickly. I'm very pleased because I live in the country and phone service is only fair. I wish I could award them a perfect score of ten.

It's very simple to set up and use
5/5

We decided to "cut the cord" and stop paying for cable and phone service, opting instead to use the Internet. (I switched to YouTube TV for cable TV) I was a little nervous about using this service at first, but it was very simple to set up. I simply plugged the device into its power adapter (as well as into a wall outlet). After that, I connected the device to my router directly. I went to their website and saw that the device had been "found. " "Port my old number" was the next option I chose. They estimated that it would take seven days. My old number was ported and assigned to this device in less than 12 hours, and all of my calls are working fine. I plugged the device into my old wireless home phone, and it works perfectly on all of the home phones. I installed the app, and now I can receive my home calls on my cell phone as well. The device price includes a year of service, after which you must pay $39 PER YEAR! It's impossible to beat. I was able to save a significant amount of money as a result of your efforts. Voicemail, call blocking, and other standard features are included. The only drawback is that caller ID only displays the phone number, not the name of the person who is calling. It will save you $300 per year. That's fine by me!.

Magicjack is a low-cost option for getting rid of your phone plan
5/5

Magicjack is a low-cost alternative to getting rid of cable companies' phone plans, but it comes with some drawbacks. br>Caller ID is a free feature that displays the phone number of the person who is calling you. br>Caller Name ID, which displays the person's name, is not currently supported. br>It is not free, and it requires prior activation. It is not, however, necessary to pay the magicJack 911 bill. If you refuse to pay the fee, magicJack will simply stop providing 911 service. br>In the event of a power outage, you are responsible for providing an uninterruptible backup power supply to ensure the continued operation of electrical equipment, including customer premises equipment required to provide Internet service. br>A Belkin RG BATTERY BACKUP REVISION B 12V DC UPS BU3DC001- is required. The router will be powered by 12V. br>br>A UPS Uninterrupted Power Supply Alarm System Security Camera Dedicated Backup Power Supply 5V 2A 44W US $22. It took me ten minutes of chatting, which did not resolve the issue, but a call to billing fixed it. My phone number is being ported from AT&T to Verizon. In less than 24 hours, I went from T to Magicjack. br>I didn't take my phone off AT&T. Instead of using a T router, I purchased an $8 Magicjack-connected router from a local store. I was able to use my phone until the porting process was completed, and then I had to transfer the telephone cord from AT&T to Verizon. Magicjack to T router. br>Because I connected the phone cord to the Majicjack and three other phones are wireless, the audio is crisp and clear. The 0- Filtering noise from the power supply with a 50V 4A DC power supply filter board. br>Recent changes: The Magic Jack performs at least as well as AT after two weeks of use. There are two differences between the T Phone Plan and the regular T Phone Plan: It initially only shows the phone number, but it is not visible on the television screen. Second, I spent $5 per month on the second instead of the first. AT $22 T Mobile Phone Plan Third, MagicJack gives me ownership of my phone number, so I don't have to worry about porting it from one Internet provider to another. The call block is activated, and if the number calls again, only one ring is heard, with the message Call Blocked displayed. The phone line between Magic Jack and the main phone set was kept as short as possible (3 feet) in order to improve the audio quality. Three more wireless handsets included with the phone kit were used to bypass the home phone line. br>I chose a noise level of 5 because it was very low. In conjunction with a PSF LC filter DC 0-35V, a 35V adapter is used. 12V 1 A. A (4X) power bank is a battery that can be charged multiple times. NIMH 1. 4 Electrolytic Cap. , 2V 5000mAh), and an output filter of (4 Electrolytic Cap. , 2V 5000mAh). My toolbox contains a 2200 uF 50 V capacitor. I can make calls for at least another 10 hours if there is a power outage, and the porting had no effect on the calls because I kept the phone connected to AT&T. T router, and Magic Jack was temporarily served by a $7 phone set. I'm sorry I didn't use Magic Jack more than a decade ago.
