Questions & Answers

What is the distinction between TL 901, 902, 902E, and 902SC? Is there any cold lamination on any of them, or are they all hot?

I'm afraid I can't give you a firm answer. I chose the TL902 because it was a newer version of the TL901 that received positive feedback. For 3mm thicknesses, I believe you can cold laminate by simply selecting the lower heat setting and running the pouch through before it heats up. I'm not sure if the rollers turn before or after you choose a heat setting. This would work for a couple of cold laminations before it got too hot. I'm not sure what a hot lamination pouch does to a cold one. You might be able to figure it out.

Is it possible to use a single laminating sheet in this machine instead of a pouch?

Scotch Brand Thermal Laminators are only compatible with Scotch Brand Thermal Laminating Pouches. Other types of laminating sheets or pouches are not recommended. Thank you for getting in touch. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our product support team at 1-888-888-888-888. 800- 328- 6276 Mon- Fri 8am- 30pm CT.

Is the thickness of the 20 pouches included 3 or 5 mm?

They have a thickness of 5 millimeters.

Is it possible to use a carrier? Is it going to be big enough?

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "carrier."

This Scotch product comes highly recommended by me for non-smokers
5/5

commercial purposes (despite the fact that I noticed. It's been a year since I purchased this laminator. br>br>I use this laminator "on occasion," rather than "on a regular basis. " br>br>I use this laminator for a lot of different things. 5 X 11. For large-format printing, there are no sheets required. Recipes for use in the kitchen are printed on them, as well as "no parking" signs in my alley. br>br>After a year, I have the following to report:

- This Scotch product comes highly recommended by me for non-smokers. (Though I did notice my neighbor's pack-rats using it for commercial purposes. ) For a dollar per sheet, the mail store uses the same product for lamination. I've now paid for the unit at 30 sheets!
- After a year of use, there have been no mechanical or electrical issues. Use with caution.
- I've had no trouble laminating a total of 12 items in a row. I've never attempted to laminate 100 sheets in a row. At 40 sheets, someone else said it was too hot.
- You must wait a few minutes for the unit to heat up before using it, but this is a minor inconvenience.
- It is intended for general/residential use. It is not intended for use in a commercial or high-volume setting. 500 laminated sheets, for example, would take an entire day to complete (due to slow speeds and likely some "cooling down" periods).
- Yes, the heat "melts" the sheets into place, so there is a slight odor.
- I haven't had any issues with the sheets coming apart (just make sure the unit is fully heated before starting - The light that says "ready" turns on).
- It will be permanently curved down if you allow the items to sag as they are removed. The item will be permanently curved if you lift it up as it comes out. It will lay perfectly flat if you hold it perfectly level as soon as it comes out. It will curve up slightly if you allow it to come out on the desk/counter. I set it on my desk's edge and hold the item perfectly straight as it emerges, and it cools perfectly flat. It keeps whatever curl it has or doesn't have as it cools down in a matter of seconds.
- The laminated sheets are water and soap resistant (for example, I use the recipe sheets in the kitchen and then wash them without issue; I also use them for "no parking" signs in the alley in the rain without issue - lamination that is absolutely perfect) I haven't exposed them to the sun for long periods of time to see how the lamination reacts.
- For classroom use, check out the following reviews: Teachers seem to think it's a good idea for classrooms, and I think it's reasonable based on my personal experience. I'm thinking of laminating 30 items for 30 students. Non-profits get a great deal. This type of commercial use. I took a look at some commercial laminator machines - For the price of a single commercial laminator, I could buy and use ten of these.
- After looking at this unit on Amazon and in two or three brick and mortar stores, I found the best deal on Amazon.
- I've had no issues with either the sheets that came with the unit or Scotch sheets that I bought later. I'm not sure why others have had issues with the Scotch brand products that were made for this Scotch brand unit. Is there anything I'm missing?
- Yes, you can laminate thin or thick paper (for example, 18 to 24 pound paper and photographs) with ease. I haven't experimented with the thickness of poster board, but I wouldn't rule it out - All you need to do is leave a little extra space around the edges of the poster board.
- Yes, it is possible to reduce it. 5X7" photos, for example, can be laminated for a total of eight years. 5" X 11. After that, I used scissors to trim the 0" paper. After trimming these down, I haven't had any issues with the seal. Allow for complete heating and cooling of the unit before laminating and trimming. It only takes seconds, not minutes, for it to cool down completely before you can trim it to your liking; an extra 5 seconds of patience goes a long way.
- For a hassle-free experience, read the small manual. (duh! )
- Warm up: It was only put to the test recently. With 3ml lamination selected, it took 6 minutes to warm up in a 70°F room. I have yet to locate my lamination sheets during this time. The warm-up period has never been an issue for me. I enter the office to laminate, press the on button, and the unit is ready for lamination before I can find my sheets and carefully insert my item. After that, I simply leave the unit on until I'm finished with the day's laminations. It has a strong odor of smoldering electrical wires. After months of being turned off, especially at the 3-minute mark.
- For safety reasons, I would never leave the unit "on" for more than a few minutes. I only use it when I have a need for it. When I'm finished with a task, I simply turn off the unit and exit my den.
- 3 ml and 5 ml sheets can be handled by the machine. For everyday use, the 3 ml sheets appear to be sufficient. I have yet to use 5ml sheets. I'm not sure why I'd need 5ml sheets in the first place - Is it possible that you'll be using your garage for a long time? For 5ml, I'd probably let it warm up a little longer to ensure that it's hot enough to melt the sheets together.
- The "release" lever has never come in handy for me - When the sheet is dropped, it is finished and ready for the next sheet. Now that I think about it, I've used the "release" lever when I completely and utterly cock-up the item. I'm all teary-eyed and want to rip it all out and start over because it's going in at such an odd angle that it'll soon jam on one side or the other. duh! This is a problem that affects human beings. There is no issue with the product. Oh, and I like the little "flip-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop-flop- With guide bars on the back, there's an "up and down" entry door. It saves space when you close it. Open it (and don't forget to use the guide bars!). ) and it does a great job of perfectly aligning the sheets for entry.
- Before you insert the item for lamination, double-check that your paper is perfectly aligned inside the lamination sheets - Allow it to finish once you've started. If you're laminating something "rare," I'd recommend practicing first. If you don't like the results, such as your item being placed crookedly, you can always cut it loose. I've done it before, and all you have to do is cut it out and toss one lamination sheet in the trash - It's not a big deal and it's simple to implement.
- 5'3" is the length of the cord. It's not retractable, but there's a spot where you can wrap any excess cord length; I just discovered this and wrapped about a foot and a half of extra cord length off my desktop.
- Two-prong 120v power supply in the United States There isn't any need for a third ground plug.
- China is the source of this product.
- United Labs has been added to the list of companies.
- The color is off white.

APPEARED TO BE USED! TWICE! I placed an order for one for my classroom
3/5

I purchased the exact same one for my in-home office. I've seen it in a store before, so I'm familiar with how it appears brand new. When this one arrived, the bag inside had already been opened. The laminator had dirt and scratches all over it, the button area was peeling away, and the cord had scratches in it! It was impossible for me to believe what I was hearing. As a result, I returned it and requested a replacement. Things are the same as before, but now they're even worse- The back tray had deep scratches where it wasn't aligned and had already been pulled in and out several times. It was all messed up and misaligned to the point where I couldn't even get it out without yanking really hard and scratching the side even more. I bought the exact same brand and style of laminator in-store. These are SO much nicer and less dirty/scratched than the store from a year ago! And buying them on Amazon costs nearly twice as much. Both of them were returned. Paying for new items and receiving used items is a nightmare. TWICE! Check yours! I'm extremely dissatisfied with it. What a pain when school starts and all I need is a new laminator, which I already paid for.

Purchases should be avoided
3/5

When I first received this laminator, I was ecstatic. Because I am a teacher, and my life revolves around laminating a significant number of papers each week, I was considering having one at home. I chose this one because it is a Scotch brand that has been around for a long time. I had no doubt that having this product at home would make me happy. br>However, that was not the case. As soon as I turned on the laminator and plugged it in, a strong "burned" odor began to fill my living room. The smell will be similar to that of the thermal laminators, but not as strong as this one. I was afraid it would catch fire at any moment. br>So, I decided to "ignore" the smell and started laminating my first paper. br>Because this laminator feeds from the top, I had to pull the pouch out after it became stuck. The pouch was melted and crinkled when I took it out of the bag. Three attempts were made. I was very careful when inserting the pouch, but it kept getting stuck and causing me to lose track of my papers. br>I believe the issue lies with the bottom left roller, which is responsible for rolling out the laminated pouch. br>I also believe there is a bad "batch" of this product, as there are people in the reviews who have perfectly laminated items. It was for this reason that I purchased it. br> It's a hit-or-miss situation. It's not something I'd advise you to do. br>br>Take a look at the images below.

Amazon cheated me; after the second use, the machine stopped working
3/5

RIP OFF The first two papers were fine, but I tried to laminate the third one and it wouldn't work. I couldn't even get the paper to load. I switched it off and waited for it to cool down completely, but nothing happened. The worst part is that I won't be able to return or exchange it because Amazon won't let me. I'm so frustrated and angry. I had it mailed to my son in Minnesota after I retired to Costa Rica. He brought it all the way down to me. I went above and beyond to bring this useless piece of garbage here. My money has been taken from me by Amazon. And I can't seem to find a way to get in touch with them!.

invest the money in a better one
3/5

I didn't use it much, but it's something I'd recommend replacing. When it ate up my art and the Scotch pouch today, I was still using the 20 pouches that came with it (which shows how much I used it). I tried the release button right away when nothing came out, but it didn't work. There's nothing in there that I can see.

After four uses, the device stopped working
3/5

I thought I had bought a good product, but after four uses, the laminator stopped heating up for no apparent reason. ever. This product has eventually proven to be a piece of garbage, even after allowing it to attempt to heat up over the course of several attempts at shutting it down, unplugging it, and restarting it. I shouldn't be surprised by a $33 Laminator sale. I've already asked for a complete refund from the product. I will, without a doubt, purchase something else.
