Without having to cut out, I was able to replace existing speakers. There isn't a lot of information in the box either. However, the speakers are fantastic, especially for the price, and I immediately ordered another set after hearing how good they are. I'd say 5 3/4 - 6 inches based on my measurements and a set right next to me. I didn't even need the provided clips for the 6" cutouts. I'd go with 6" just to be safe. You can (or anyone else can) contact me if you have any further questions. Speakers that are very good. No one should be able to tell you otherwise.
3 inches, and I hope this information was useful.
5 inches.
The speaker's output is largely determined by the source to which it is connected. br>br> These "marine" speakers do not come with stainless steel screws! As a result, when you return to your boat after the winter, you'll find massive rust runs running down your bulkhead. To get those out, I had to pay a man with a buffer nearly an hour of labor! 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Take a look at how lovely and white the covers are. Isn't it the ideal complement to your white boat? Wrong! Because they are UV unstable, they will turn a lovely almond color in less than 2 years (and I live in Seattle, where UV and sun issues are relatively minor). 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Isn't that grill in front of the built-in tweater interesting? Metal, to be precise. Is it made of stainless steel? No way! Did you think these were meant to be used in the ocean? Isn't it true, though, that they're all painted? Yes, but only on the front side! When salt air hits them from behind, it rusts them out (see rust streaks above) and then gets under the paint. 4. br>br> Those wavy grills look fantastic! But what happens if someone smacks them in the face? They will eventually come into contact with crew or gear, no matter where they are placed on a typical boat. Our grills cracked, which is entirely our fault; however, do you believe the grills can be removed or that Pyle sells replacement grills? LOL! (On both counts, the answer is no! )br>br>One thing I'll give them credit for is the sound. They are not, however, rated for use on boats!.
Two on the bow, into new openings, and two at the stern, where the original speakers were mounted. I had to replace a pair of Memphis Audio Marine 6 speakers. Speakers 5" in diameter I don't remember how much the Memphis cost, but it was a lot more than these Pyle Dual 6. 5s. I have a Sony head unit (no external amplification) that I use to listen to music.
After seven years, my camper's external speakers had failed. I ordered a pair because they had a lot of good reviews when I bought them. The speakers were a perfect match for the OEM speakers, were simple to install, and the wires were plug and play. play. The sound quality was excellent as well. Today, however, I took the camper out, and both of us were shot. The sound is muffled and distorted. I initially assumed it was the radio reception, but the internal camper speakers sounded fine even when streaming from my phone, whereas the Pyle speakers made it difficult to recognize the song. They must not be designed for outdoor use, even if they are waterproof. We've had the camper for less than two years, and we always play music quietly because it's under an overhang all year.
Instead of being recessed into the trailer's side, the speakers are housed in plastic housings that "bump" out the speaker. The housing has a 6" inside diameter and a 1-inch depth. 75”. After having to return several other orders, I finally got these, which fit perfectly in the housings and sound 100 times better than the cheap OEM ones Keystone used. Installation was quick and easy; they were up and running in less than 20 minutes.
The spade connectors needed to be tweaked a little. For the installation, make sure to get butyl tape.
These speakers look great and sound great on my Shallow Sport bay boat. I like the sound and the price; the bass is good and the treble isn't tinny. Some people, I know, enjoy the serenity of nature. Not me. When I'm fishing, I prefer to listen to classic rock. We'll see how long they hold up to the sun, salt water, and corrosion. br>Update: So much for being waterproof, these speakers stopped working during a heavy rainstorm and shorted out. When you buy something for a low price, you will receive it for a low price Once it's dry, I'll double-check. If they work again, I'll have to invest in some baffle covers to keep the rain out. I'll keep you up to date.
Should be able to withstand the elements well. They're quite excellent. I'm not thrilled with it, but at this price, I'm satisfied. I'm going to put these on the outside of my camper to replace the factory-installed tiny 4" paper 20watt junk speakers. These are far superior to those in every way. It will undoubtedly be an excellent upgrade. To help reduce rattle and interior noise through thin camper walls, I used foam baffles (with small ports cut into them). I'm becoming a little louder in the middle with those. range of sound coming from the speaker br>They look nice, appear to be well-made, and should hold up well in the elements. I'm only giving them 45 watts each, so they should be well below their RMS rating and last a long time. br>They sound great and I'm very pleased with this purchase.
