This little device does exactly what it claims to do. I have a Yamaha soundbar with a digital input, as well as a DVD player with only HDMI and coaxial digital audio outputs. Now that I have this coverter, I can connect my DVD player to my soundbar and listen to the music on my DVDs in their entirety. This will suffice until I upgrade one of these, which could be three to four years from now. So, I paid around $12 for that kind of extension. It was well worth the money. Note: The device didn't come with any cables, but for the price, I made do with what I had on hand.
I needed to run a digital signal from my TV's optical output to a headphone amplifier over a long distance. The distance was too great to be covered solely by optical cable. I was able to use a short optical cable and then convert it to coax for the rest of the run thanks to this device. It performs admirably. It's also rated to work the other way around, i. e. I have not attempted to convert from coax to optical in this manner.
The item was not functional. I had to give it back to them.
Hopefully, this one is as good as the old one with 2k almost 5 stars, ordering, but wait, isn't this one digital only?.
