BlackMagic makes a device that does what you want, but it isn't this one. The HDMI to SDI converter can be found here.

Excellent product! The backbone of our church's video ministry is and has always been these converters

We've been using them for a long time, and I have four more for my own production company. Only one of our converters has failed on us, but I believe it was due to an electrical surge; however, we should have surge protected it, so I don't blame the converter! I'm not sure I'd be willing to try another brand after the success we've had with Black Magic!.

The failure rate of converters is high - I would suggest getting a longer warranty

We've had a couple of these converters fail after a lot of use. It's a good idea to get the extended warranty. Otherwise, when they work, they work as intended.

It's a prosumer product, designed for those who require a small form factor (think mobile), but it can be used for a wide range of applications. Dis- The basic requirements for connecting to professional equipment are covered by embedding AND conversion to HDMI (with or without lookup tables). I use it in conjunction with an UltraStudio Mini Monitor to route audio to an SPL amp and video to the latest LG monitors, which are quickly becoming the industry standard for client viewing. This book comes highly recommended.

In conference centers and ballrooms, I work in corporate AV. These sdi to hdmi converters do not come highly recommended by me. Many situations make black magic products incompatible. I have four on eBay, and no one is interested in buying them at any price.
