5V/1A power supply is recommended for a distance of approximately 1 meter.
Never tried walking up to a speaker and speaking directly to them. My system consisted of connecting the television to a stereo receiver, which was then connected to surround sound speakers.

My only complaint is that it fails to mention that the optical cord end has a clear plastic cap that must be removed unless you've used these cords before. It isn't immediately apparent. br> I googled the cord after I couldn't get it to work and discovered that the clear tiny cap on the ends needed to be removed. Google, thank you very much! br>After seeing that everything worked out, I now have audio coming from my external speakers via my receiver.
I use this on the back of my LG smart TV to allow the TV to broadcast to wireless headphones so that I can listen to the TV when the room is noisy or when I don't want to disturb whatever else is going on. My only gripe is that the headphone audio is slightly delayed when people speak. When I'm watching something with a lot of dialog and the camera is pointed at the person's face while they're speaking, the two are out of sync, which can be annoying. There will be no problem if the camera is not pointed at the person who is speaking, or if it is pointed at something other than the person. Under those circumstances, the delay isn't significant enough to be an issue. I suspect that any of these optical to wireless converters will have the same issue, so switching brands won't help. It's staying with me and will be put to good use. The small delay isn't enough to make me return it because everything else works as it should, and when the camera is pointed directly at the person speaking, I simply focus on something else in the scene.
br>This device was plug and play.
This is a great small formfactor that comes with the cable. We only had to change one setting on the TV audio output and now we have fantastic stereo from our new TV into our old but fantastic audio system.
I used it to connect two old computers. To a Samsung 700 series smart TV, connect 1 (RCA only) receiver. I connected the TV's optical output to the receiver via RCA. I was able to use the built-in TV apps to get sound. It's simple to set up and it works great!.
It's fairly simple to set up. Keep an eye out for the small plastic cap on the optical connection's end. At first, I didn't notice it and assumed it wouldn't fit in the optical port.
So far, everything appears to be in working order.
