I understand it's a "boom" box, but is it possible to reduce the volume of the heavy bass sound? Is it time for a change?

Yes.

How does this work in cars, where a flat surface is required?

I just tested mine and found no differences in performance (CD) as the unit was moved around. I'm not sure if it would skip while driving on a bumpy road, but I believe it would be fine in a car.

Love it! I adore the ease with which a radio, cassette player, or CD player can be plugged in and enjoyed. I like having the option of owning CDs and cassettes that I can keep. You can even make recordings and listen to music or talk shows without having to deal with the hassles of modern technology or paying for subscriptions. Please keep producing these, Sony!.

The bombox you've always wanted, but with electronic benefits for the future

This is a fantastic product that can be used with either batteries or electricity. The sound quality is incredible, and you can save your favorite radio stations; it's also compatible with CDs, MP3s, cassettes, and other electrical devices. The small design is very nice. It appeals to me.

THE SOUND IS AWFUL! This item is way too expensive

Even when the bass is turned off, there is too much bass! It's difficult to keep the buttons on the selections set. should've come back; a lot of effort!.

That was not at all what I had anticipated

I expected excellent sound and durability when I saw the Sony name. The product is not at all what I had anticipated. The radio stations were not easy to program. There were no stations set up ahead of time. As stated in the booklet, the program has been programmed. It appeared to be simple to get rid of. There was no Sony sound to it. You get what you pay for, I suppose!.
