Questions & Answers

Is this something that you can charge with a battery? Or do you want something that can be charged? Or both? Is there a way to recharge with the adapter? Is it possible for me to primarily use batteries?

The adapter is designed to be used with an AC power source. The radio's batteries are not recharged. The radio's batteries last a long time; I listen to it for about 30 minutes. Radio 80 plays for 40 minutes every day. 90%, the remainder is bluetooth D cells can last for months if they are used in this manner. I switched to rechargeable AA Sanyo Eneloops with D spacers around the holidays, and they last about four hours. If you want to recharge more frequently, 6 weeks between recharges is a reasonable option.

Is there a radio antenna with this?

There is, in fact, an antenna. It's not a "telescope," but rather a plastic-coated version. Coated wire coiled up next to the battery compartment that you can unwind and hang out the back (it has its own hole). If the reception isn't good enough without it, it will get better.

When you're listening to the radio, does the clock show up? I enjoy listening to music while showering, but I try not to spend too much time in there! ?

Although it displays the time, the LCD contrast, whether with or without backlight, is disappointing. I know it's time to change the battery in my digital watches or weather stations when they become dim. My H202, on the other hand, has new batteries and the display shows a full charge. Regrettably, because it is otherwise a fantastic radio.

Is it possible to recharge the batteries? I'd like a good portable that can be used in the shower and has rechargeable batteries and the ability to connect to an AC/DC power source. ?

The radio's batteries are not rechargeable, but they last a long time, and it has an AC/DC connection. The batteries are disconnected when you plug it in. For $9, you can get this AC adapter. Now I'm 63 years old!

EATS BATTERIES due to a fatal firmware flaw
3/5

A fatal flaw in the firmware prevents the radio from turning off after the timer has been used. br>Even though I used the timer every day and listened to the radio for about 30 minutes each day, I had to replace the batteries every two weeks. When you use the timer function and then turn it off, the radio emits a faint hiss. The radio continues to play even after the timer has been turned off. br>It took me a long time to figure this out because the hiss is only audible when the room is very quiet and your ear is very close to the speaker. br>br>I discovered that after using the timer, it is necessary to turn on the radio for a few seconds before turning it off. The only way to turn off the radio completely is to do so this way. br>br>I've been on one set of batteries for over a month now since doing this. br>br>I have two of these, and they both do the same thing, so it isn't a bad radio.

You can make or break your use of this radio by paying attention to the following minor details: a couple of facts Sangean's H2O1 radio is being reviewed by me
3/5

There are a few things to keep in mind about this radio, some of which are related to the fact that it is waterproof and intended for use in the shower (thus, design features), but they can still impact your user experience. I'll present some facts as well as my personal viewpoints. Note: If you're considering purchasing this radio, please read the complete manual first. br>br>Weight (including D cell batteries): On my scale, two ounces equals two pounds and twelve ounces. br>br>Headphone jack: br>br>Earphone jack: br>br>Earphone jack Bluetooth and Internet radio: Nonebr>br> None. Handle: br>br>Size: br>br>Size: br>br>Size: The antenna is retractable and placed toward the back of the unit (rather than across the top like most radios), making it front heavy when carrying or hanging from a hook or shower head. Presets: br>br> AM gets five points, FM gets five points, and FM2 gets five points. It's simple to set up, with only one button to press. WX may have presets as well, but it only has seven stations to begin with. br>br>Volume: br>br> There is no wheel; only buttons are used to move up and down. Will make you appreciate radios with a volume wheel or knob, both for ease of use and for more precise volume control (as opposed to being locked into the "steps" dictated by the buttons). WX Direct is a one-button access to weather radio: br>br>WX Direct is a one-button access to weather radio: Unfortunately, no. To get to WX, you'll have to hit the Band button several times, then hit it again multiple times to get back to the band you were listening to before. I've never used the Weather Alert so I'm not sure how well it works. br>br>Reception of FM radio: It's acceptable, but not outstanding. Reception is fair at best without the wire antenna hanging out the back; with the wire deployed from the back, FM reception is better, but not as good as with a standard telescoping antenna. The wire is more of a pain than one might think because it hangs beneath the radio and is easy to yank when the radio is moved. This is a non-negotiable situation. However, if the radio is left in the shower, it becomes a problem. Note: There is also FM2, which is on the same band as FM but has five additional tuning memory options, giving FM a total of ten memories. br>br>Reception in the AM: Internal ferrite bar antenna is very good, but it is directional, and a half turn of the radio can make a huge difference in reception (so try it first to determine angles before mounting in the shower). Is it as good as a SW AM FM radio with a dedicated tuner? No. br>br>SW reception: br>br> In case you were wondering, there was no shortwave, TV, CB, or other type of reception. br>br>Features of a nap: Can set a one-button adjustable nap feature to play radio and then a buzzer to wake you up an hour later, for example. For those of us who nap but need to get up on time, this is a handy feature; for those who don't, it's useless. br>br>Sleep counter: br>br>Sleep counter: br>br>Sleep counter: Yes, and it works well and is simple to operate (for more information and timer options, see the online manual). Colors: br>br> Pink and white are two colors that go together. Pink is more unusual than white because everyone has it. br>br>Time is measured in hours, minutes, and seconds. Always on, even when listening to the radio (after the first few seconds of turning, the radio station is not displayed). br>br>Tuning &amp The seek and scan functions are controlled by push buttons. There was no turning of the knob. There isn't a Dx Local switch available. Unfortunately, the first press of the tuning button simply puts the radio into tuning mode, and the second press simply tunes the radio, which I find annoying. You'll be tinkering with the tuning knobs quite a bit. br>br>Light: br>br> When you press buttons, it stays on for a few seconds, then turns off after a few seconds. There is no dedicated button for keeping the light on all the time. AC Power: br>br>AC Power: br>br>AC Power: br>br>AC The unit does not come with an AC power cord, which can be purchased directly from Sangean for $20 or from third-party sellers for a third of that price. Using power not only causes interference when listening to all but the strongest signals, but it also makes the unit non-waterproof. A rubber seal covers the radio's AC connection. br>br>Battery: br>br>Battery: br>br>Battery: Two D batteries are used, and a battery indicator is always visible on the screen. I'm not sure how long it will last, but it will be a long time. br>br>Speaker: br>br>Instructor: br>br>Instructor: Sound source is single, small, and of good quality. In front of the camera. There is no way to adjust the tone. br>br>Flashlight: br>br> I doubt I'd use it in an emergency because it's a small LED with only one button to turn it on and off. Waterproofness: br>br> Test it during the 30-day return period on Amazon, as you would any new waterproof device. I put it in the shower and thoroughly soaked it. No problems, including the speaker, as the clock kept ticking. The gaskets perform admirably, particularly in the battery compartment. The FM antenna storage area is not gasketed like the battery compartment next to it, so it gets wet and holds water. After soaking (but not submerging) the radio, there were no problems. Construction: br>br> Everything is held together with rubber gaskets, so there are no rattling parts. The feet are rubber. br>br>Volume: br>br> Loud enough for close listening and listening in the shower, but not as loud as a boom box. It isn't loud enough for use outdoors, such as at a pool or at a construction site. br>br>Bottom line: There aren't many waterproof radios on the market these days, and it's one of your few options if you need to wet the radio in a bathtub, swimming pool, or other wet environment. If you plan to use it as a general-purpose radio, an emergency radio, a weather radio, a DXing radio, a nighttime sleep radio, or a bedside radio, there are many better options available at this price, and I would not recommend this H20 radio for general use. I hope you find these observations to be useful.

However, it is not outstanding
3/5

The size and weight of this radio are *twice* that of the venerable Sony ICF-80. The audio quality is noticeably better on the 79S (I don't care about audio quality in the shower). Despite the comments of other reviewers, I did not find the receiver sensitivity (AM or FM) to be any better - The sensitivity of the receiver is significant in the listening experience.
OK - The Sangean has a flashlight, which the Sony does not have. br>br>If you're looking for a shower radio for the first time, this is a good option. If you need to replace your ICF- Continue your search, 79S.

THE BEST SHOWER RADIO OF ALL TIME
5/5

CLOCK RADIO is my absolute favorite shower! For the first time, I used it today to play music directly from my phone! I was in the shower when my phone fell on the sink! The audio quality is incredible! I bought this radio to use as a clock so that I always know what time it is when I'm in the shower! The radio/bluetooth option, on the other hand, is an AMAZING added bonus! This is an absolute must-have! br>br>This review will be accompanied by a video. I apologize for the poor image quality. I took the video with my phone, and while it looks great on the phone, it's distorted on my computer. (The most important thing is the sound, which you get from the video, so turn it up!.

Radio that is fantastic and of excellent quality
5/5

Over the course of the year, I've purchased a number of items that I don't think I'll ever use or need. I must say that I adore this item, and it may become a backup for my other bathroom. This is my first Sangean radio, and I must say, I'm impressed with the brand. Advantages: br>br>
1. The construction quality is excellent. This device is much larger and heavier than I anticipated. The housing is made of thick plastic that appears to be of good quality.
2. Sound quality is excellent - very complete, precise, and well-written For a single, medium-sized speaker, the corners are rounded. It's far from tinny. While I'm showering, I have the volume set to "20," which is plenty loud.
3. Uses large "D" cell batteries (2), which may appear to be a little odd at first. br>4. They're a little off-putting, but they appear to last a long time. Buttons are the right size and have a nice texture to them. It is simple to use.
5. The display is clear and shows the time (when the device is turned off) as well as the remaining battery life.
6. Wire antenna that can be stretched - I live in a city and find that it receives my stations clearly without the need to extend the cable, but your results may vary.
7. It has rubber feet so it can easily sit on your sink or tub, or you can use the included strap to hang it in your shower. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
1. The WX Alert button is awkward to use; it's easily pressed by accident, and getting back to the station you were listening to requires pressing it a second time, pressing the power button to turn the radio back on, and pressing the Band button to cycle back to where your preset is. Both the WX and Power buttons are on the front of the radio and are the same size.
2. It would be nice if the batteries could be recharged - However, this is a minor complaint. br>3. It irritates me that I have to pay extra for an AC to DC power converter.
