There is a fatal flaw in the firmware that requires the radio to stay on even after timer usage. In addition to my daily use of the timer and the radio, I had to replace batteries every 2 weeks, and I was using the timer every day. A very faint hiss can be heard from the radio when you use the timer function and turn it off. The radio continues to play after the timer has been turned off. Initially, I did not notice this hiss until I put my ear very close to the speaker and turned it up to a very loud setting. The timer MUST be turned on for a few seconds after the timer is used, and then turned off again after it is completed. Turning off the radio this way is the only way to do it. Having done this, I can now run on one set of batteries for more than a month. The radios seem to do the same thing on both of mine, so it cannot be a defective unit.
