Retro Boombox Cassette Player AM/FM Radio Stereo, AC Powered or Battery Operated Portable Vintage Tape Player Recorder Cassette with Big Speaker and Earphone Jack

My stereo and two boomboxes, it turned out, were no longer able to play tapes. After doing some research, I decided to go with this seller's Semier boombox, and I'm so glad I did. I order a lot of things from Amazon, but this radio was the one I was most looking forward to receiving. So much so that I kept double-checking to see if it had been delivered. I disinfected it and plugged it in as soon as it arrived. When I inserted a tape, my mouth dropped open as it immediately began to play sound. I began to believe that all boomboxes had stopped producing sound. Needless to say, that night I began listening to a tape that I had been dying to hear. That tape sounded just as good to me as an mp3 file. When I'm alone with this boombox, I like the volume level as well. The radio, at least where I am, in a somewhat mountainous area, wasn't quite as good as the one station I tried, but I honestly believe that was due to my location and the distance to the radio station. I'm excited to see if I can convert at least a couple of my tapes to mp3 files using an audio converter I purchased on Amazon (DIGITNOW USB Audio Capture Card Grabber for Vinyl Cassette Tapes to Digital MP3 Converter). I saw on that product page that you can transfer audio by plugging it into the headphone jack, which this Semier boombox DOES have, and even if that doesn't work, I'll be happy with this radio. br>br>I was about to purchase another Semier radio because I loved this one so much. Why? Because I never want to be without a cassette player again, and because it appears that finding a good cassette player is difficult. If you're on the fence about buying a radio, this is the one to get. Even though it's only a third of a sheet of paper in size, being able to listen to your tapes again will bring you joy. P. br>br>P. br>br>P. br>br>P. Some tape players appear to stop working because specific parts of the player need to be cleaned with alcohol. You can look it up on the internet or watch videos on YouTube. However, I'm overjoyed to have a brand new tape player that actually works and brings me joy through music.

Portable cassette players are no longer manufactured in the same way that they once were. We tried another retro player (twice) with poor results, and after reading other reviews about this player, we decided to give it another shot. and, in particular, the performance of the cassette deck - We thought we'd give it a shot. So far, everything has gone well: Radio stations are clear and strong, and the cassette motor is quiet, and tapes play at a consistent speed and volume with no phasing or fluttering, which is important for our purposes. When compared to other inexpensive cassette radios on Amazon, this one is a bargain. It appears that we made the correct choice. The only thing that remains to be seen is how long it will last.

For the price, the sound quality exceeds my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised, as I am a sound quality snob. It's simple to operate because the lettering and background colors contrast well enough to see what the buttons and dials are for. The lettering may be too small for those with vision problems, but it's a lot better than the last one I tried, which I had to throw away. I have a good view of everything. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with this player and pleased that I purchased it. It's a cinch to use.

I have a lot of cassette tapes that I like to listen to, especially on the train. I bought this small cassette player to use on the train in a bedroom sleeper compartment. It was the perfect size and took up very little space in my luggage. The sound was fantastic; it wasn't too loud and it was crystal clear. This player comes highly recommended from me.

It's nearly useless. This radio isn't able to pick up any of our local AM stations - except for one thing. I'm in the San Francisco Bay area, and this radio won't even pick up KGO or KCBS, the two major stations in the area that broadcast across the entire west coast, when I tried it on both batteries and AC power. I moved around the house, hoping to find a better spot, but I couldn't find one. It was slightly better on the FM band, with three or four stations with good sound - However, the tuning dial on the FM radio is so "sensitive" that it was difficult to find the right spot on the dial. It's nearly impossible to hit a station on the first try at the upper end of the FM dial because it's so jumpy. Many of them also fail on their second and third attempts. I didn't try it as a cassette player, but the radio function is a complete waste of time. This one will be returned to you.

This is a charming little radio that I wished I could adore. With the exception of the tape playback startup, everything about it is quite nice. The motor appears to be slow or underpowered, resulting in a slow, distorted sound that gradually speeds up to normal speed. This is a far cry from the near-instantaneous proper playback I'm used to with cassette players. br>br>I ended up returning it for the reasons stated above. I was able to unearth an old Magnavox boom box from 1994, which is far superior. It's just a pity it's not as small and attractive as the one shown here.

This is a cool little cassette player that also works as a radio. It brings back memories of my childhood. I still have a few tapes that I enjoy listening to. It works perfectly and does not harm the cassettes in any way.

Although it may seem strange to price something so 'highly' when it sounds like someone is playing music from a wire and a tin can, it does at least play cassette tapes at a reasonable speed, unlike many other similarly inexpensive or modern players. With headphones on, it sounds better. Use caution when using the volume knob, which appears to have three levels - It was deafeningly quiet, deafeningly loud, and completely silent. I wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for a cassette player because it exacerbates the low fidelity of the format. However, if all you need is a cheap player and radio to keep around, this will suffice.
