Questions & Answers

When the current in the station goes out (outage), will it continue to play? or just stay on "standby"? do you have to press a button before you can play?

Hi - I didn't know the answer to your question until I put it to the test on my own computer. I turned it on to confirm reception of a favorite station before unplugging it to create the illusion of a power outage. When I plugged it back in, I was surprised and delighted to see it come back up on its own and begin playing the same programming as before the power outage. This Radio Is Fantastic!

Is it possible to use the audio out jack on this radio to power bigger, unpowered speakers? Is it necessary for external speakers to be powered or to pass through an external amplifier?

Only powered speakers/devices can be driven through the audio out jack; however, unpowered speakers/devices can be driven through the headphone jack.

Is this radio capable of receiving AM stations from all over the country?

This isn't an AM radio, but it can pick up any AM or FM broadcast station that streams its content over the internet, and there are thousands of them. The radio is linked to a website where you can search and scan for stations, listen to them, and save them as presets that you can access from the front dial or remote. I've had it for about 4 months and I'm really happy with it!

What is the volume and power of the speaker?

Fidelity and loudness are most likely what you're talking about.
Yes. The speaker has a good range and can be quite loud. I do, however, connect it to an external speaker to increase the bass and range.

It's simple to use and has a lot of features, as well as good sound
5/5

I've owned other digital Internet radios, but the Ocean Digital WR230S stands out because it can connect via WiFi, Bluetooth, or Ethernet, and it also has an aux in port. The stereo sound is crystal clear, and I was able to listen to all of my favorite stations from anywhere in the world. I've lived in Ireland, France, and South Africa, and it's incredibly simple to connect to the stations I used to listen to while there. There are a plethora of stations to choose from, and there are no hidden costs or fees. Bluetooth allows you to listen to music from your phone. There's also an aux out port for connecting to a bigger stereo system. It comes with an antenna, so you can listen to local FM radio stations or use the internet connection to access the same stations. br>br>I believe this is a better use of my money than paying for Spotify or Apple Music because there are so many options. I can get free news from my favorite places and listen to any type of music I want. I ordered it through Amazon Prime and had it installed and connected to my wifi network in about five minutes. With over 20,000 stations to choose from, I'm sure it'll take me a long time to visit each one. It's in my office, and the modern design complements my credenza nicely.

Internet radio with a lot of features and good sound for a low price
4/5

Internet radio that is good for a low price. The Skytune has a lot of features for its price. This radio's list of internet stations is provided by net, an internet portal. Going to the Skytune is something I strongly urge you to do. Before you buy, go to the net portal and look at the station list to make sure you'll be able to get the stations you want. There is no need to create an account or log in. The site does not require that you register your radio ID code. It simply performs the task for you. There's also a method of manually adding the URL of a radio stream to the memory of the radio favorites list by going to the radio's IP address on your LAN; good luck figuring that out if you're not an internet IT pro, as most websites don't make it clear. If you go to Skytune, you'll be able to find out more information. There is a link for "suggest station" on the net web portal; you can give the URL of the station's website and it will be added to the list; I had several stations in the area that weren't on skytune. I submitted a suggestion for a station and received an email from someone at Skytune within 12 hours. I was impressed by how quickly they were added to the station list, so Skytune is a lot better than I first thought because their list of stations was smaller than some others I checked. With this radio, you'll need to access the Skytune portal. I was able to receive clear reception on a few stations 50 miles away thanks to the FM tuner's sensitivity. All of your favorite stations, as well as FM tuning and the Internet, are saved in the same "favorites" folder on this radio. This is a useful feature in my opinion. When you choose a favorite, it automatically switches to the appropriate mode for tuning in, whether it's FM or Internet streaming. That's something I've never heard on any of my previous radios. You had to choose between listening to the radio or going online. Someone inquired as to whether the radio has a US power adapter plug for use in the United States. YES. A European plug was visible in the Amazon image. My unit came with a two-bladed 120-volt plug adapter that was made in the United States. The built-in speakers appear to have a diameter of approximately 3 inches. The black painted plywood that has been formed into a box appears to be the material used for the wooden case. The finish isn't completely smooth like a piano black, but it does have a woody grain texture. The cable for the power adapter is only about 3 feet long. 5 feet, or a little more than a meter, in length. Even if the radio is on, the clock display can be left on; however, some people do not do so. Bluetooth is excellent for streaming music from my Android phone.

The project is still under way
3/5

Good-looking wooden box, mediocre sounding speakers (not much better than small radio speakers); (However, stereo) The screen is of poor quality for displaying basic information, the smaller text is difficult to read, and, perhaps most importantly, the software: 'skytune,' a subpar station aggregator, is used. br>About skytune: When searching for a station, it does come up with the station, but it's always the lower bit rate and subpar version of that station (for those that didn't appear in browse lists). Finally, unlike mediaU, skytune does not have a mobile app or mobile page. In terms of FM, my modern Agptek pocket tuner receives around 27 real stations, while this ocean digital tuner receives 17 (away from appliances). One station I never hear static on any radio, but this radio has not only some static but also fading out issues; so it's a minute fm for this size of radio. Expect FM performance to be below average. Finally, dnla (UPnP) does not work at all; it has a menu, but no active network devices are detected. Maybe something will come up soon. It lacks a couple of features that make it a simple to use device: no easy way to recall favorites without using the remote (quick memories), and software issues make it difficult to recommend. I don't think it's a good idea to use it as a high-end product. It's a long way from today's better-sounding portable players and speakers, so it's a low-fi alternative.

This was an EXTREMELY SATISFACTORY purchase
5/5

I wanted to get my parents something to replace their old boom box, which they had in their bedroom. I knew they weren't tech savvy, so I needed a simple way to switch from their old to new radio. They 100% adore this internet radio with a built in alarm clock. I had no trouble preprogramming a station from their motherland in East Africa! This radio is simple to assemble, takes up little space, and produces clear, crisp sound. One feature that my parents appreciate is the ability to listen to radio programs both locally and internationally! br>br>My only gripe is that I can't get it to work with Pandora. All of the other features, on the other hand, are fantastic! If you're like me and have been hesitant to purchase internet radios in the past, I strongly advise you to do so now. This is my second Ocean purchase, and I am very pleased with both, as will you:.
