Check your Kindle's socket; it should work if it's a single socket. br>Another option is to take your Kindle to a Radio Shack store and have a charger installed.

I was looking for a charger for my first-generation Kindle, but the plug is rectangular rather than round, which is required for this model. It would be beneficial if the product photo included a clear image of the plug that goes into the charged item. I returned it because it was not appropriate for my needs.
The charger works fine, but the Amazon representative who assisted me was unhelpful and skeptical that I had misplaced the original. I tried to explain that I'd been in the hospital for nearly six months with a back injury, and that it was most likely stolen; I picked it on my own, hoping it would be compatible with my Kindle, because the representative didn't seem to care and was unhelpful to the end.
The charger shown in the picture is not the one I received. It's totally unique. Now I'm stuck with a charger that won't charge because the tip is a micro USB rather than a rounded tip charger. If you're looking for the charger shown, don't waste your time.
Imagine my horror when I awoke to find that my cats had chewed through the wire on my Kindle charger! When I went to bed, I forgot to charge the Kindle, and the cats decided to do the deed out of boredom, curiosity, or vengeance. I looked on Amazon and found this replacement for a very reasonable price; it arrived quickly (perhaps three days), was well-made, and did an excellent job of recharging. I am extremely pleased with this product and would strongly recommend it to anyone in need of a replacement Kindle 1 charger.
I was about to throw away my kindle fire because it was three years old and I didn't think it had it. But I decided to give this charger a shot, and I'm glad I did. It arrived on time, as promised. Thanks.
As expected, it did not fit the Kindle 1st Generation. I returned it because it had a rectangle plug in and I needed a round plug in.
It's not the one I ordered (pictured), and it's a lot bigger and bulkier, but I needed it right away, and it's fine.
