Questions & Answers

I can see why I'd want a Nook HD - I know it's a specific cable, but why can't I charge my HD with it and any old 2 AMP USB charger?

It has nothing to do with 'cable size,' but everything to do with B. The device was specified to run on a 5 GHz processor by N. 1V - Unlike everything else that uses USB at 5 volts, this device uses USB at 3.3 volts. 0V. The connector's pinout (which pins carry data, ground, and supply voltage) is the same, which is why when you disconnect the cable from the B, the data, ground, and supply voltage are all lost. You can transfer files to and from your Nook by using an N adapter and plugging it into your PC. But there's a 5. The 0V that your PC USB port is sending to the pin that normally charges your phone, tablet, bluetooth earpiece, and other devices is insufficient to meet the 5. The steenk'n Nook wants to see 1V before charging/powering the Nook with it. If you're handy with a soldering iron, I'm sure you could go into the Nook and devise a 'hack' to the voltage circuitry to make the Nook run on 5. 0V and post it on the internet, but it will undoubtedly be a pain in the neck, especially given B. N will inevitably come to a halt. Personally, I adore my Nook HD, but when I misplace that inconvenient proprietary adapter, I'm out of luck. I'll never buy another tablet that doesn't have STANDARD USB CONNECTORS ON BOTH ENDS WITH STANDARD USB VOLTAGES because it drives me insane. The I-Pod is an Apple product. Strange connectors are used by fool stuff to force you to buy their wares. B, I guarantee it. N had to make an extra effort to use the number 5. 1V is what prevents you from charging that device with inexpensive $3 adapters (AC/wall or DC/auto) and $3 cables.

Will this work if my Nook doesn't have a high-definition display?

No, the Nook HD or Nook HD+ connector is only for Nook HD or Nook HD+ devices.

Is this charger compatible with the BNTV400?

Yes! It is still in use.

It's functional, but it'll set you back $30
4/5

Generic USB wall chargers aren't compatible with the Nook's USB port. It works! I was hesitant to order it because of the low ratings, but it was the best short-term option short of buying a new Nook or replacing it with a Kindle. The first plug-in was One night, part of the machine made a sizzling noise and shut down. My husband attempted to connect the USB end of the cable to one of the approximately 20 USB ports available. We tried all of the wall chargers we had around the house, but none of them worked. We're guessing there's a proprietary feature on the Nook USB end that prevents you from using standard wall chargers, which was a real pain because he couldn't use his Nook for weeks. If you're thinking about getting a Nook, this might be something to think about.

Everything is in order
5/5

I bought it so that I could take it with me and use it to charge my Nook while I was out and about. It performs admirably in this regard. The charger's prongs fold down so that they don't rip holes in my bag or anything else in the same pocket. The charging cable is long enough to reach an outlet in my neighborhood coffee shop. Because it's an official product, I don't have to worry about it overheating my Nook and causing a fire, which can happen with knockoffs. And I know I have a backup charger in case something happens to my regular charger.

ugh
4/5

Barnes and Noble is a company that produces To be honest, I think Noble electronics are pretty bad. I have a Nook HD and have gone through two chargers so far. THEY ARE SO EASY TO BREAK! Moreover, the prices of these obnoxious chargers are exorbitant! This one cost around $30, which I do not understand. It should not be necessary to place an order for these items. They aren't even listed on Barnes & Noble's website, but this is the charger you require. So far, this is the only one that lasts a little longer. It's the genuine article, but it's exorbitant; however, I've discovered that while this is the most expensive, it's worth it because it's the genuine article. The cost of shipping is exorbitant.

I purchased a Nook HD and was very pleased with it
3/5

It was fantastic, and I'd never had anything like it before. I purchased a Nook HD and was very pleased with it. It worked perfectly for me and I never had any problems with it. It died one day (for the first time), and I had forgotten to charge it while on vacation, so I ordered a new one. It wasn't going to charge. I made contact with Barnes. Noble said they couldn't help me because they stopped making them and that I was out of luck.

This power cable is a great replacement for the original
5/5

My B was taken away from me. The cable is not original. I scoured the area for a replacement. I tried a different, less expensive model, but it didn't fit my device properly, so I went back to square one and ordered this one. I am completely satisfied. It performs as expected and is a perfect fit. Anyone looking for a backup or replacement for their original USB cable adapter should consider this product.

So far, it appears to be working
5/5

It is beneficial to my situation. Because . So far, it appears to be working. It is beneficial to my situation. Because the Barnes and Noble store where I purchased the tablet no longer has any. The product is no longer available in their store. Finally, compared to other markets, I was able to get it here for a reasonable price. It works, and my son is able to read his books on a daily basis.

Works
5/5

It's a battery charger, to be precise. It has a charge. I'm completely content. This appears to be a genuine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) charger. After my original charger stopped working, I bought this one for my Nook HD, and it worked fine after that.

This charger is a fantastic backup
5/5

The merchandise arrived on time and in good condition. Having a backup charger is a good idea. I would buy from this seller again if I needed a power cord. The price was also reasonable.
