The Palm Pilot is in its twilight, but it's still considerably less expensive than smart phones that have features (such as cameras) that I don't require. My Palm keeps my calendar and information up to date, but the battery is also getting old, and I have been experiencing increasingly inconsistent performance, so it isn't reliable enough. It controls the tuning program for my diesel truck, so I kept it in working order because I needed a battery. As a first-time buyer, I was grateful for the 'torx' screwdriver as I did not have that size. However, I did not have any luck with the First-Time Buyer's Guide as I did not know how to connect the battery plug. You just have to reset it and it is good to go.

In the past couple of weeks, I've had the battery in my previously low-energy Palm TUngsten E2 for a couple of weeks and it has greatly extended its usefulness. Since I didn't fully drain the old one before starting it to see how long it lasted, I'm not sure how much longer it will last As a result of the frequency of how often it needs to be recharged now, I have observed this. In spite of that, my Palm still works just fine. The battery did not short it out, cause it to work funny, etc. Other people have stated that the instructions alone are not sufficient to insert it you need to know more to be able to do so. Prepare yourself to feel like you're breaking the law by watching a YouTube video first. During the track there is a lot of breaking plastic noise. Keeping your fingers firmly around the edges when separating it is also crucial In one place, I got frustrated and turned what I was using to pull the two sides apart instead of using the flat edge to "pop" the two pieces apart.

I finally got the job done by using a thin knife blade, which worked really well. In order for it to get into the space it needs, it must be pretty thin. The wire from the old battery (on the top part) to the connection (on the bottom part) is about an inch and a half long, so make sure you don't open them up too quickly after they're apart. This is my sincere intention. The plastic assembly at the top for switching it on and off fell off because I didn't do it. My memory failed me for 20 minutes just to reassmble that part.

I was able to complete this task very quickly. In order to make it easier, you will need the E2 Screwdriver Package since the screws of the E2 have a unique slot. If you do not have the special screwdriver, make sure to order it. It is the hardest part to separate the two halves but if you are patient and work around the edges slowly it's easy to do and is no trouble to put in a new battery and close up the E2. In any case, you will need no more than ten minutes to complete it, even if you haven't done it before. It was very easy to separate the halves with the tip of a very small screw driver, however some people use the blade of a pocket knife. Just make sure that you don't push it in too far and work it around the entire perimeter. It can be done by anyone if I can do My old battery worked perfectly with the new one, so presto I was able to extend my battery lifetime.

It could not hold a charge for more than a few minutes on my Droid X. The E2 has been with me since Dec 2002 and I did not wish to throw it away Thank you for finding a replacement battery for me. br>The battery is pretty easy to replace, but if you haven't already seen the You Tube video, check it out before you replace it Step by step instructions are best suited to the video with background music that lasts for four minutes. It was helpful to learn more about the videos from the other buyers. I emailed some photos of the back of the Palm and screw driver head to the seller because the original screw driver wasn't the right size. When the seller received those photos, the correct mini screw driver was sent. Several reviewers mentioned soldering in the battery, but I'm not sure why. Mine had a tiny square end that snapped into place at the battery wire. I had to replace the little "on" button on the E2 as I was reassembling it, but it was easy to replace before screwing the screw back in. You'll soon see that your old Palm has a new lease on life if you take your time.

I was able to run my Palm for the full amount of time where the original battery was barely functional. It was nice that there was a small torx screwdriver, but there was no pry tool. We were able to make do with a butter knife instead. Starting at the top edge, cut the opening. The bottom of the case has two prongs made of plastic that interlock the front and back of the case, so it can't split at an It is possible to slide the front and back apart. I mounted the battery label on the lower part of the unit to enable better wire dressing. The first thing I did when I was a kid was - I went to sync with my laptop but I was pleased that the Palm had 'woken up' and all my stuff was still there, as is the case with soft resets. A test like this is worth trying if your tungsten E2 is out of warranty. A couple of months ago, I was very upset when my tungsten camera wouldn't turn on. We offered 90 days of warranty. Rather than taking the risk of replacing the battery, I opted to see what the problem was. VIDEO IS A GREAT HELP! When I removed the plastic cover on the battery itself, I immediately began to see the lights come back on. (That should be in the directions, but it isn't. ) Despite the fact that I have no experience with this sort of thing, I think This video guides you through what you need to do, but you'll need to be a bit adventurous. Make sure to pass it along to someone you know! There is no way Palm should charge so much for this type of repair outside.
