Questions & Answers

What, in your opinion, is more effective: non- What is the difference between a hinged and a hinged version? I'm thinking about putting it on wheels and keeping it near my desk. ?

I've only hung the non-electrical devices on the wall. hinged versions, but I'd go with the hinged version if I were going to put one on wheels because the back would be secure. The backs of the non-hinged versions are open.

The instructions state that the box must be grounded, but all of the devices are already grounded. Why is it necessary to ground the box? Which method is the most straightforward?

EMI/RFI is also kept out of the box by using a ground wire. For added protection, consider a faraday cage.

What kind of wall-mounting hardware should I use? Is it possible to support this with just two bolts into studs?

After mounting your cabinet rail and placing the cabinet on the rail, you should secure the cabinet to the wall with additional screws at the bottom of the cabinet to prevent it from being lifted off of the wall mounting rail. Putting the bolts into standard wood studs should be fine, but steel stud walls require mounting a large board to the wall first. The bolts will do the majority of the holding, and the extra screws will simply assist the bolts in their work.

What is the procedure for locking the side panels/doors?

There's a spring-loaded L-bracket. When removing or installing the side panel, you'll need to pull on a pin. If the front door is locked, the L-shaped door will be locked as well. The pin cannot be yanked out, and the side is held in place by the pin.

Great product, but make sure you plan and measure all of your devices first, and then move the front rails before installing your device

It was very simple to set up. Two screws were directly on a stud, and the other two were attached with a snaptoggler [. ] in the dry-cleaning wall. This allowed me to apply up to 275 pounds of force to the screws, which is 75 pounds more than the rack can support. br>br>One piece of advice is to plan out your installation and all of the equipment you'll need before getting started. That's because, after putting everything together, I discovered that my power switch prevents the front lid from closing. Then it occurred to me that I could have gained more space by scooping the front rails backwards. Now that I have everything in place, including cable management, I simply don't want to do anything with it, so it will remain as is. br>br>I would recommend this product, and I may purchase a larger one to accommodate some of the devices I have in other areas of my home.

This is an excellent argument

You've come to the right place. The small rack is fantastic! This shelf is built to last: Built from solid metal and assembled by a professional. Componets (sides, doors) can be easily removed and replaced by simply flipping the locking mechanism and reconfiguring it. If I could improve the rack, I would add cable tray runs to make it easier to use cables, as well as a place to mount a rack PDU. br>br>Up to four 120 MM fans (I'm using NZXT FN120v2 fans) can be mounted on the rack. For proper ventilation, there are numerous air flow entry points on the sides. br>br>I'm using a RAXXESS Series 1U ventilated shelf (UNS-RAXXESS-UNS-RAXXESS-UNS-RAXXESS-UNS-RAXXESS-UNS-RAXXESS-UN 1) Designed by Chief to help me run my virtual server. The installation went smoothly: br>br> I used deck bolts (like you'd see on a patio deck) to fasten two 2x4 pieces of wood to the studs, then used 6" deck screws to secure them. I hung myself on the rack as a test before loading it down with gear (I wouldn't recommend it!). ) and it supported my entire 250-pound weight, albeit with some creaking (I was only suspended for about 3 seconds). Metal does not flex or warp under any circumstances. br>br>An APC SMARTUPS battery backup, a Netgear switch, a firewall, two virtual servers, a modem, and external hard disks are currently on the system. br>br>I've been using it in production for months and haven't had any issues. I wish I could put a second one to good use.

Great enclosure at a fantastic price! This arrived sooner than expected
5/5

I opened the box and discovered a great product, which I installed two days later and the management loved. I'll buy this one again next time because it came with enough hardware to mount three devices (12 rack mounts). I needed to adjust the mounting frame because I installed a POE switch, but that was no problem. After the installation, I needed to access the ground lug, which was simple to do thanks to the removable side panels.

It's a good rack, but the doors should be handled with caution
3/5

The rack has a nice design and is well-made. The mounting bracket says it's patterned for 16" studs, but the holes aren't quite 16", and the holes that are that width aren't centered on the mounting plate, so the rack mounts a few inches left or right (your choice) of the studs' centerline. If you need to center over studs, I recommend putting plywood over the studs and then attaching the rack to it. Also, because the rack is heavy and you know more will be added, you'll be tempted to attach the mounting plate with lag bolts. Unfortunately, due to the way the rack and mounting plate are designed for installation, a large head on a lag bolt will not clear the rack-- You'll need something with a flat head for this. This also appears to be an area where they could have done better. I'm curious if they've attempted to install their own rack. Even so, once it's up and running, it looks fantastic and serves its purpose. Other minor annoyances: Because the left and right side panels are not hinged, hold on to the panel while removing it for the first time. When you pop the latch, you might expect it to swing out like a hinged door, but it will instead fall out and land on the floor (possibly causing damage). The front door can be removed, but removing it will reveal two small plastic sleeves that center the hinge pins in their holes and can (will) quietly fall off and disappear. a location where do you invest your money? It seems like hours have passed. on the ground in search of it The door will not sit straight or close smoothly if you don't find them. Those tiny sleeves should SNAP into place rather than DROP into place. Following my first bad experience, I began tacking them into the rack with clear caulk, and I also placed a warning label inside the door at the hinge pins as a future reminder/warning to watch out for and keep these important little parts when removing the door.

It's ideal for use in a small space like a SOHO
5/5

For our core home office network gear, we needed a piece of furniture to organize the tangle of cables, network equipment, and power bricks. I finally thought of a free-standing desk after days of (fruitless) looking for standard office furniture that could handle this task. a rack for standing. The WAF of a network rack appears to increase exponentially if the cable mess is left out in the open for long enough. br>br>While the 6U model would have sufficed, I'm glad we went with the 9U because it gives us a little more breathing room for extra gear. It's possible that the 12U was overkill. br>br>The rack was in perfect condition when it arrived, and it was well-made. safe and secure Because of the easily removable side panels and reversible door, it is sturdy and easy to work in. I went to work after adding some felt pads to the bottom of the rack because we have no plans to mount it. br>br>It's likely that the pictures and notes will explain the rest better.
