It's a great CAC reader, but I wish the DOD set up were more intuitive
5/5

I found this device to be very useful by itself. Despite the small size, it is amazing how much space it takes up. It is being used on two Macs, both of which are Macs. The USB port on the back makes it possible to use it on an extension port with an iMac. There was no issue getting the mac to recognize the unit.

The reader is about the size of a thumb drive and sticks out a bit. Please make sure that nothing is set on your CAC card or the reader while you are using them. There is a whole other story when it comes to set up, and it is not the fault of the product. The Department of Defence has made the process just challenging enough to inspire a few choice swear words and get you to drink before you can survive. The Military Cac. You need www. com to find the information you need. As far as the process goes, it seems straightforward You will need to download software to your device to enable it Add your certificates to the application by importing them. Viva la viola! It's not as good as it sounds. there is the matter of getting to OWA. If you can access website 2 - I can recommend it to you I had to restart the reader three times before it worked, but that happens on both my home and office computers. Overall, if you require a CAC reader, this will do for you. It is highly portable and is a great choice for business travel. You're going to have a lot of fun setting this If you just want help setting up the device, I cannot help you.

You can do it! The PIV lanyard is convenient and fits well on it
5/5

I bought the PIV lanyard less than a month before COVID came out. The work consists of 19 tasks Several "rules" were put into place for me at home. PIV cards for departments other than mine are standard federal cards, and those for DOE laboratories and other agencies are almost identical (or at least very When I work for the agency I use my PIV to log in to the applications, digitally sign emails and documents, etc. In addition to the laptop which has a built-in card reader, I also use my own portable devices (surface go, personal laptop) to check work emails and do other small tasks. It's either use these PIV card readers or use the multifactor application on my phone. This type of card reader is better for me. My first experience with either of them seemed like they might not be compatible with my card, but it seems they must just have lacked the right drivers or something because when I tried the next time, everything was already set up! It is a very good portable card reader (as is the other one), which makes it very convenient.

Mac OS X is having a problem with the SCR3500A
3/5

The SCR3500 readers have exhibited good performance during my ownership of two of them over the past 7 years. Despite my attempts, I'm unable to install the SCR3500A on my Mac system. It is possible to see the reader on the USB bus, but no CAC card can ever be detected, nor is the LED ever illuminated. The SCR3500A readers should be avoided if you are running libcackey as your middleware. If you cannot switch to the Identive drivers, be wary of the SCR3500A. It is Oberthur One 128 v5. The CAC chip worked great for 6 months before melting and burning out
3/5

It was a good reader for a CAC card that could be carried around. After six months, you will be able to purchase your first home. Accessing my work network remotely was always problematic for me I used it less than once a week. Up until one morning, I had never encountered issues until I started getting an error that said the certificate could not be read. When my computer started to get warm, I unplugged the device (the reader) and let it cool down, then I restarted. My attempt to reconnect after about an hour was unsuccessful- It started to smell like melting plastic when my house started to smell like this - Almost as if something electronic had been destroyed. Once I learned it was the CAC reader and unplugged it, it had already melted to the point where I am no longer able to close it (the sides that can be folded up when it's Additionally, the damage to my CAC ID and metal chip of my ID was also terrible. It was necessary to get a new card as well as a new reader at a facility. I chose this device because I like the way it is small, making it easy to carry when I am in meetings or remotely working. The device is relatively inexpensive and it did last approximately six months therefore, I would have left it with three stars if the device had just stopped working. Nevertheless, since I needed to replace my ID card due to damage, I had to replace it I can justify a star, but that's about it. A broken device/money was wasted on me, but the inconvenience it caused me was more than that. As a result, I was not able to do my work efficiently, and so I am not inclined to purchase it anymore.

The best smart card reader I have found! It has always been a pain for me to have big card readers when I am working from The cord resembles that of a pit viper that is taking a nap, and they are cumbersome
4/5

My self-esteem depends on how much I can do for myself Because I'm a minimalist who lives in a small space with my wife and two daughters, I have to have a small and portable card reader. This one meets all my expectations, and it's relatively inexpensive. I would say you need to be careful when folding and unfolding it. However, my wife is not used to handling such a card reader to begin with, so I had to purchase this one for the second time. The reader is pretty fragile if you fold and unfold it so much, and my wife accidentally snapped one of the sides while taking it off the computer one time. Although the fragility of the reader was not an issue with our model, it's something to take into account if you have a kid (or anyone who is rough with it accidentally) in your household.

When folded, a small thumb drive is the size of an iPad mini
5/5

The bag was smaller than I expected and the quality wasn't what I expected This is a perfect solution. I am confident that this item, which works without any drivers on Windows 10, will last a long time. Good hinge and contacts so it should last a long time. Attaching a key chain to the provided key chain is simple The plan looks forward, even if it is a simple 2-step plan The loop arrangement has a screw connector, making it highly secure for connecting devices. Although the folding parts do not close properly, the hinge is stiff enough that it is unlikely to open up unless you carry it out of a pocket and attach a bouncing keychain to it. Since the contacts are exposed, carrying one in a pocket may cause the electrical contacts to get mucky It is recommended to treat it as a non-prescription drug To prolong the life of electronics, they should be dust- and water-proof.
