It is actually quite convenient for me to have to insert my bigger USB dongles into my computer since my only spot is in the back. As for me, I like having the USB right under my monitor, so this is the way I would do it. There are wireless dongles that are quite large and take up more than one USB port. I sometimes have to unplug other devices to plug in the wireless dongle. In this manner, I am able to plug in the dongle without having to remove anything, and I don't have to dig behind my computer to find an empty port to plug in the dongle from. I can also extend hard drive cables using this. My TV actually has a USB port at the back, so I use this more often to extend that. My thumb drive is always being plugged in randomly to play videos, which is a pain in the neck. The use of this device is definitely more convenient. The method also works for the laptop, but at that point you are probably carrying extra long cables that take up space in your bag. As with any cable, it's well built and you need to be aware that it's made of thicker material so it's not as flexible. Despite the metal ends being a bit prone to scratching, the nylon fibers are tough and do not fray easily. There is only one down side to it it is hard to keep a proper posture. For mine to be straight and tucked away, I taped it down to the side. Plugging in the dongle/thumb drive initially took a bit of force, but it became easier once it was plugged in several times. From what I can tell, the use of this cable does not impact the rate of transfer. This cable operates just like an external USB drive. My external hard drive didn't disconnect with the cable, and it transfers just as quickly as a USB drive plugged directly into a computer. Overall, I think this is a good device to have if you need to plug in bigger devices into USB ports without worrying about losing a port or having to run an extension cord. Although it has a good build, keeping it in one spot is a problem. When you first use this extender, it can be difficult to plug in. If it is a USB 3. 0 external hard drive, it does not require additional power and can be used at any time. But if it's a simple USB 2 device, then there is no need to worry. There may be a need for additional power for a hard drive with 0 capacity.

For now I won't need to purchase a new keyboard. Over the past few months, I've been frustrated with my keyboard. The lag time on it drove Initially, they thought it was their keyboard.
