Startech has provided us with this adapter. If you can connect to the serial port with no issue, it is probably the driver or library that you are using that is wrong. There is an error in the description of the chipset

The title of the product told me it was made by Texas Instruments. Purchased this to enable my Tech 2 to communicate with the software on my Saab. The chipset is totally wrong. This is not a TI chip, it is a Proliant chip. It was a relief to order a different brand (different model) at the same time. This is a waste of both.

The operating system is not compatible with Windows 10

If I had known that Windows 10 (released in 2015) would not be supported on a product bought in 2020, I probably wouldn't have bought it. The condition of a device that is typically used to support critical network infrastructure is very unacceptable. As far as I can tell, Startech is not planning to update its drivers. Save your money and don't waste it.

It is without a doubt a fine piece of hardware which I recommend

This fine piece of hardware can be recommended, because it is an industrial grade product that is incredibly safe and durable. A previous USB to serial adapter in an application accessing data from an industrial scale would hang every half a day, but the Startech product has worked consistently without any failures for 2 weeks since it was installed. No more computer restarts were required and the data connection is dependable.

Buffering is the only feature of this unit that features 16550 UARTs

This is the tool I use for all my Network techs if they need access to a console in an emergency. The piece of software will start printing gibberish if there are more than 5 lines of the configuration. The 16550 UARTs on the unit allow the conversation to be buffered, and you can paste full configuration to your heart's There are always some of these around, with good drivers and great performance for every new tech. I highly recommend this product.
